Japanese MLB player Japanese/American rookie cards by Slug03 (Last updated on Jul 30, 2020)

All 61 Japanese MLB players rookie cards, from both America and Japan.

Many players have many, many rookies from the same year and other brands not listed here. My order of preference for choosing rookie cards were as follows:

Japanese rookies:
Year, BBM preferred (except for Murakami). Lowest card number chosen if BBM issued multiple cards of the player in the same set.
American rookies:
Topps base preferred, then bowman, then other major releases (Upper Deck, Donruss, Fleer/Fleer Tradition), then more minor sets released by the main companies (Topps Finest, Bowman's Best), and if no major releases exist for a player, then the earliest minor league card.

Here are my favorite cards in my collection for the people on my favorites list. My favorites list is right now at 110 persons. Cards may change as I enter more into my collection or add more people to my favorites list. There are a few people on my favorites list who do not have any cards catalogued in my collection, eventually that will change when I come upon some of their cards.

WCW Hall of Fame by stevejrogers (Last updated on Jul 28, 2020)

Started by the company in 1993, and was held annually at the Slamboree PPV in May, and the event was given the "Legends Reunion" brand name. Along with the in-ring ceremony, there were other dignitaries brought out to help honor the inductees.

Dropped after 1995, presumably to concentrate solely on the current product, which was white hot in the midst of the nWo angle. It was never resurrected. It would appear that the WCW Hall was attempting to be more "all-inclusive" to the sport than the WWF's, which was created at the same time, and concentrated on the inductee's time with the promotion. Only a few inductees, like Dusty Rhodes, Ole Anderson, and Wahoo McDaniel had made HOF caliber impacts (both in and outside of the ring) on the territory (Pre-WCW it was Jim Crockett Promotions/Mid-Atlantic under the NWA brand)/promotion through the years.

As far as I know, the honoree plaques were on display at the CNN/Turner headquarters in Atlanta. It is not clear what became of them since the WWF purchase of WCW, and all of its assets in 2001.

We Needed That: Moments In Sports That Went Beyond The Field by TheToddFather21 (Last updated on Jul 26, 2020)

I'd like to dedicate a list to the moments in sports that were special for a city or country and lifted them up or gave them hope when they needed it the most. With sports returning amid this time when the US is trying to battle through this COVID-19 crisis, hopefully sports can give us something to cheer about again soon.

NBA Throwback Jerseys by Billy Kingsley (Last updated on Jul 24, 2020)

The NBA introduced "Thowback" jerseys during the 1996-97 season to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the league. They have remained a popular nod to history to this very day. I'm going to attempt to document every card that shows a throwback on the least as long as it's part of my collection. A work in progress. To my knowledge of the 30 teams in the NBA, the Charlotte Hornets, New Orleans Pelicans and Minnesota Timberwolves are the only teams to have never worn throwbacks.

Right Team, Wrong Uniform!? by stevejrogers (Last updated on Jul 10, 2020)

There are many players with lengthy careers with a single franchise, and plenty of those have been with franchises that changed uniform styles, colors, or both as frequent as styles tend to change.

But there are a few long tenured players whom seemingly spent their entire time with a franchise that made only one or two different changes.

And sometimes, whether its just before the sweeping change to a long standing uniform style happens, or the player's last year or so was played after the franchise made a change from a long standing style; it does seem weird to see the player in a different style, even if its all with the same franchise you'd associate the player with.

Note: This does not include any Retro/Turn Back The Clock/Tribute sort of one time only or an alternative style for specific home games.

As well as returning players as managers, coaches, Spring Training Instructors, etc.

Or, as often was the case, a card depicting a retired player in an Old-Timers Day, or like event, clad in the team's uniform style of the day.

MLB Honoree Teams 1999 All-Century Team by stevejrogers (Last updated on Jul 10, 2020)

Ballots formed from panel of experts' selection of 100 greatest players for the 20th Century.

Revealed prior to the 1999 All-Star Game in Boston 7/13.

Fans voted for the top two players for the infield positions and catcher, as well as the top nine outfielders and top six pitchers. A Blue Ribbon Panel added five more that didn't garner initial votes.

The team was revealed in a ceremony prior to Game 2 of the 1999 World Series in Atlanta on 10/24.

1983-84 OPC Goalies by Blargh (Last updated on Jun 27, 2020)

30 Goalie Base Cards
13 Without Mask/Helmet
13 In-Action
3 Non-Action
1 Practice Jersey

Top Card: Pelle Lindbergh
Runner-up: Tony Esposito

Curious Omissions: Pat Riggin (Wash), Greg Stefan (Det, RC), Glen Hanlon (Stl/NYR), Brain Hayward (Wpg, RC)

Strange Additions: None

10 Cages
6 Masks
3 Combos
(Includes on head/in hand)

1982-83 OPC Goalies by Blargh (Last updated on Jun 27, 2020)

32 Base Goalie Cards
14 Warm-up Shots
18 With Mask/Helmet

13 Action shots

Top card: Mike Liut
Runner-Up: Eddie Mio/Grant Fuhr

Curious Omissions: Marco Baron (Bos), Roland Melanson (NYI), Doug Keans (LA), Glen Hanlon (Van/Stl)

Strange Additions: None

The 1982-83 Set photo selection is a big improvement over the 81-82 set. Although it is too little, too late. There has already been a movement towards the cage or combo instead of the mask.

10 Cage/Helmet
6 Masks
4 Combo
(includes warm-up shots)

Less goalies, less action, much less head shots, and more more masks than the previous season.

Top Card: Andy Moog
Runner-up: Tony Esposito

Curious Omissions: Doug Soeteart (39gp), Al Smith (36gp), Denis Herron (25g, Vezina)

Strange Additions: John Davidson, Glen Hanlon, Andy Moog (in hindsight great addition but Andy spent the next season in the minors)

1980-81 OPC Goalies by Blargh (Last updated on Jun 27, 2020)

35 Goalie Base cards
7 Action shots
8 head shots
5 Inaction shots (Could be stoppage of play)
14 warm-up shots
1 posed

Top card: John Davidson
Runner-up: Mike Liut

Curious Omissions; Gerry Cheevers (retired), Mario Lessard (No Kings Goalies in set), Michel Larocque, Rob Holland (Never had a card)

Strange Additions: Doug Soeteart

One feature I wish this site had was to filter cards just to show goalies in the hockey sets. To make a list with only goalies from all sets would be quite daunting and time consuming. Instead I will make a list of goalies from the OPC sets of the 1980s.
This era had a mixture of masks, cages and the modern day combo mask. Unfortunately the photography in the 80s OPC was rather pathetic and marred by frequent warm-up pictures.
I will only feature the base cards.

NBA Players who appear on cards but did not get any of their own by Billy Kingsley (Last updated on Jun 18, 2020)

There are more than 1000 people who have played in the NBA but did not get an NBA card. Some, however, do appear on other player's cards in the background or defending the player. A work in progress.
College cards do not count but other professional leagues do.

Cards With Kids by royals (Last updated on Jun 13, 2020)

Photos showing the kids as an intentional part of the shot...not just as fans in the stands. Often spending time with their athlete parent, but it does not have to be the athlete's child.

Please leave a comment with recommendations for cards to add.
