Sportzcommish's 1300/1000 Celebrationby Sportzcommish (Last updated on Jan 8, 2024) |
This is my way of saying thanks to the TCDB community for over 1,300 trades and 1,000 positive feedback comments making card collecting the diversion it was meant to be for me.
Contest Rules - Participants will compete in a single elimination baseball tournament comprised of 5-inning games. I will use the 1968 Topps - Game inserts to play the games, and will post the results with a game recap, most likely using the TCDB forums. Depending on the number of participants, a "Play-In" game system will be used to balance out scheduling. "Play-In" participants will be the final official chronological entries into the contest.
Tournament Dates - January 8-22 (end is dependent on the number of entrants). Actual schedule will be released on the Sportzcommish's 1300/1000 Celebration forum post.
Registration - Registration will be a two-step process and will open from today, December 25, 2023, through January 5, 2024, at 6:00 a.m. Here are the steps to heed:
- First, on my blog article "Is It Only a Game", hopefully after having read it, simply post your TCDB ID and a creative team name (to make it fun). NO PROFESSIONAL OR COLLEGE TEAM NAMES ARE ALLOWED. For example mine would be: Sportzcommish's Shiny Heads. And, keep it clean! Anything vulgar will disqualify you from participation.
- Second, you must post on this giveaway - not on the blog, your 9-man major league batting lineup including a pitcher (sorry no DH). Posts will be hidden until after the registration deadline. This is needed as I will be keeping a scorebook for each game.
Prizes - If anyone from outside the USA wins first or second place, your prize will be substituted with cards. If you do not wish to collect the prize associated with your finish, you may PIF it to a TCDB member of your choice.
- Grand Prize (Finalist Winner) - Cal Ripken Jr. Wheaties All Star Game 1997 Commemorative Baseball (Note: Cards will be substituted for international winner)
- Runner-up Prize (Finalist Loser) - Ken Griffey Jr 1998 Heroes of The Locker Room Player Key Chain (Note: Cards will be substituted for international winner)
- Consolation Prizes (Semi-Finalist Losers) - 1986 Drake's Big Hitters - Box Panel #37-39 (Gooden, Valenzuela, Browning)
Blessings to everyone that participates.
