I can tell your intentions are good, and you have some great ideas. There are just so many potential flaws in all pricing models that I'm not sure it's worth the time and effort.
Have you read the previous forum posts about pricing? There were some good discussions, even just within the last year or two. They showed how all pricing systems are flawed.

K cards I agree with everything you said.. and I often don't list the highest sold price of an item because of it being ridiculously higher than what it should be (imo) and yes I agree all reported sales should average out to a median price.. i often report some of the higher prices to balance out some of the low prices to even them out.. if someone posts all the low prices (which is perfectly fine with me) the higher prices should also be reported too as long as they are actual prices for items sold of ungraded cards

I'm a big fan of leaving it alone and if you choose not to use it thats fine. If you want to use it in the future maybe spend some time adding recent "individual" sales or remove the prices that are way out of bounds or incorrect. There are several scans or card numbers that are incorrect but I'd never want to do away with it because it is still useful to someone other than me.

Also, I'm interested in making this better. I have the ability to remove pricing so if you come across something that is questionable you can also message me and I'll look into it.

I purely collect as a hobby so I have bought a lot of cards and only sold a few. I don't have a card business or sell on a sales site like sportslots. I don't know that pricing accuracy here matters so much to me as finding a cheap/free resource that can help me make fair trade offers and avoid being taken in a deal. A lot of the members here are great and most of the offers I receive are fair but believe me I have received more deals in favor of the other guy than to me. Since this is a hobby I do have a limited amount of money I want to invest in it so it is in my best interest to maximize value in trasactions to build my collection. Even after being active here for about 18 months now I still struggle to find a good way to determine fair value in trades. I think a lot of the response here is more a response of members looking for a better way to evaluate fairness in trading which is one of the best features of this site. I still don't have a great answer for this. Even a site like sportslots has it's limitations due to a minimum selling price for a common. If anyone has good suggestions for this I am interested in hearing them.

Funny, I keep swaying back and forth on this subject. After making my last post and then reading some more, I think I'm turning it off again as it does not really do anything for me. Keep the discussion going, but I would need to see a signicant change for me to use it.

I know how you are feeling Bob. I few months ago I was strongly on the side of we all need to do our part to fix this. I feel like maybe I have thrown my hands in the air and given up but my mentality has changed to it's a meaningless feature on TCDB and I just need to find a different resource to evaluate fair trade value if I'm concerned about it.
I feel the issue is more members looking for a resource to help them either not get taken advantage of in trades or worry that they will unintentionally make an offer to another member that is lopsided in their favor and possibly lose a potential trade partner due to making poor offers.

You wrote. You "often report some of the higher prices to balance out some of the low prices." That is price fixing! You are telling everyone you're not accurate and you're manipulating the price to suit what you think is right. You are only picking what you think is good and dropping what you think is wrong? All in an effort, to make a price right? I can hear laughter. Can you?
Doing what feels right, does not make it correct. Therefore, by what you wrote, your pricing of cards is also a FAIL.

What is that behind you!?! Oh, It's me! Looking at the cards you have, That I want. :)

True, True..............and just one more reason to not trust PRICING on TCDB. AND a testimonial no less. How much more evidence is needed to convince us that the PRICING FEATURE has SERIOUS FLAWS !

haha i see what you did there.. and if i were creating prices out of thin air that would be true.. however im only reporting actual prices of sold, ungraded items ..so no, im not price fixing
