But only reporting SOME of the prices, you are.

Well.. anybody that has ever reported a price on here obviously has not reported ALL prices ...in that way of thinking everybody that has entered a sale price without entering all of them is price fixing. I meant no harm, I'll erase my entries if it's a serious thing

Of course if I report a price of something I just bought, or the last known sale of an item, I'm certainly not listing them all. But to say that you intentionally leave some out because you don't think they fit, is exactly that - you are leaving out the ones that don't meet with YOUR approval. But, you're fully aware that the particular item you're researching had an actual sale at a price you don't feel should be reported. This is not helpful. I personally think you should report all the prices that you find, or don't bother at all (that's why I don't bother at all).

Don’t change what you’re doing. I didn’t realize donating your time to work on pricing required you to enter every price you could possibly find. If people think that Beckett and other pricing sites don’t have some manipulation of pricing going on your most likely mistaken also. At least here most of our pricing entries are documented with actual market occcurances. In today’s market eBay has proven that the guides have no more validity than what most people post here.

I am sure glad I have NO interest in the dollar value of my collection. This all seems confusing and complicated. When I trade I try to send more total cards than I receive. I only see a card as a card. NO dollar sign. A common Giant from my want list is more valuable to me than the non Giant star players I have on my trade list.
Just my opinion. For what it's worth.

if you look up ANY sold price, you see them ALL, unless you filter out prices that dont fit a certain criteria.. im not intentionally leaving prices out.. im intentionally doing just enough to matter, without having to enter every single price.. the countless hours ive put into it would be multiplied by 10 if i attempted to do that.. i can and have been however recently including the estimated condition of the card when available and will also in the future attempt to include card prices from the entire spectrum of the sold prices

Dont put too much effort in. only the 5 most recent count toward the median price. As soon as you add a 6th price for a same card, you're cancelling out your own work.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

PHEW....WOW....YIKES....BAM
The Pricing Feature isn't gaining any ground here, actually losing ground. I don't use it, so I'm not pointing any fingers. The more members that follow this post, the more members will turn it off including many TCDB Elite. I still contend the feature needs a new, fresh look.

Bob, my thought on this is that maybe when Admin created the site all those years ago, part of his dream was to have an interactive, crowd-sourced price guide as part of it. It's clear he doesn't want the pricing feature to go away, and he has updated how it works, more than once. But I'm with you; I leave it turned off. I have no interest in the "value" of my collection. To those who do, more power to them. I was really surprised to see that some members spend hours and hours entering price data, until reading this thread. I had no idea.
Keep up the good work, I guess?
