Sorry K-Cards but I have to agree with RJ on this one. Would I like this to be a Price Guide , heck yeah !!!! I collected in those days.....what Beckett or Tuff Stuff or SCD reported that was gospel!!! Where did they get those prices? popular players, RCs, rare ERRs, VARs....my guess, just a case of supply and demand. You can't leave pricing up to everybody that logs on, it goes much deeper than that. I don't see pricing getting fixed until a committee and overseeyer have control, and I'm still not sure that would work. As other members have alluded to, the pricing function gives this great site a "foul odor", that's why established members shut it down. My venting is done!

Another thought is allowing users to enter lots for price calculation.
Due to the price minimum on certain auction sites, many commons are listed as $1 (or $.99). Others have mentioned how when these cards sell the price becomes inflated if someone comes along and reports that sale. However, many cards are sold in lots. For instance, if that same card sells in a 20-card lot for $1.00, a user can report that price as well ($.05), but only one time. So if both of these sales are conducted and reported, the prices reported would be $.05 and $1, with the site calculating the median price at $.52 or $.53.
However, if the second user can report that it was a lot of 20 cards sold for $1, the site could and should recognize the each price. The site should then calculate and acknowledge that 21 of this card has sold for $2 and the site's calculated price should come out to somewhere around $.10. Interested if anyone else thinks enabling users to report lot sales would benefit the site (price accuracy).

I have begun the process of selling most of my collection on eBay (https://www.ebay.com/usr/k-lots). The rest will be practically given away. If you'd like to "rescue" a card from this fate, give me an offer. I'm currently only entertaining trades that help me downsize my collection or provide equitable cost/value for a card I will keep (see "Collects" in my profile). -Bob

I looked at the prices for the Bonds XRC that was mentioned earlier. If only 2 members have that many cards. I must say that there is oversaturation and are very overpriced.

You're right 4 is horrible. I myself find myself pricing cards I don't have simply because I am looking at a whole set and happen to be in the neighborhood.
Maybe requiring a user to have at least one card from the set or to have a card in the set in their wantlist, but then again that really doesn't solve any particular problem, because anyone can add anything to their wantlist.
4 is a bad idea. Disregard.

It is possible to price the cards in your collection apart from the prices listed on the site. This is what I have done. I use an unmentioned source because I can take their average price and adjust my pricing by that, depending on the condition of my card, but I am the only one that can see those prices. Another reason I want my cards priced is because they are all in a storage facility right now and if something should happen to them there I want a half way accurate price to give to their insurance company for the value of them, so I can try to replace them.

I personally enjoy having pricing on this site and have put countless hours into reporting ACTUAL sale prices. Many of them look inflated, I am aware.. however, if Beckett (which does much more research on pricing and has much more experience in pricing than any of us) has a card listed for $100, and here is listed at $20.. it is not ridiculous for someone to go to Ebay and find an upgraded example that has been sold for $100 and report it. The same goes for $5 cards and $3000 cards. As long as they are ACTUAL sale prices of upgraded cards (unless told otherwise) I will continue to do so.

I like seeing the prices but do not use them most of the time.
1. I have not purcased any cards at Beckett prices in maybe 10 years. Normally half or less.
2. The $20 price may be what he purcheased or sold it for.
3. If it is an actual sale or purchase No problem listing it here. Prices go up and down all the time.
I sold several cards on E--bay going through COMC. Do I put price that I got or the price the buyer had to pay. If I added prices of the cards I have sold the Med prices would go down a lot. I have sold $20 cards for $3 or $4. Sold a 57 Hank Aaron card for $33.50 the condition it was in it should have gone for over $100.
Maybe some one here has a Beckett pricing account and can take thier prices and add them here. Or we can go to Sportlots and take their prices that they are willing to sell for. If that is the way we want to go.
Pricing has always interested me. I have seen cards with very small gaps between high and low. Then also very large gaps bettween high and low prices. Some people still go by Beckett and will not sell for any thing less.

This is a HUIGE no on these ideas:
Maybe some one here has a Beckett pricing account and can take thier prices and add them here. Or we can go to Sportlots and take their prices that they are willing to sell for. If that is the way we want to go.
Doing that with Beckett is a sure-fire way of no longer having this site. Sportlots is the same as an ebay buy it now listing - if it didn't sell, it's NOT an actual price.
