I like the plan but it may be hard to do. I've seen cards worth literally 5 cents sell for a few dollars and vice versa. I gyuess if the person wants it bad enough williung to pay whatever.

That's the point: If it sells (consistently) for a few dollars, then it is only worth 5 cents "literally" (as in, what you've read in the "price guides" and what you've read from the "experts"), but the market is declaring an alternate reality that is not anchored by those biases. The people who buy the card for a few bucks have the final say on what the card is "worth." A seller would be a fool to remain fixated on the $.05 price point, unless he is led astray by the "price guides" and "experts" or in his own desperate urgency to "liquidate" the card for a lower value.
That's exactly why I feel getting pricing right on this site is so important, because there is an opportunity to provide unbiased/unfiltered truth about the "fair market value" of people's cards. If tradingcarddb.com provided THAT along with all the other capabilities and features and knowledgable collectors that this sight provides, it would become the sole definitive source for all things trading cards.

I have begun the process of selling most of my collection on eBay (https://www.ebay.com/usr/k-lots). The rest will be practically given away. If you'd like to "rescue" a card from this fate, give me an offer. I'm currently only entertaining trades that help me downsize my collection or provide equitable cost/value for a card I will keep (see "Collects" in my profile). -Bob

Sorry about that; My picture uploading skills are not up to speed. It was an example of the Card Mavin pricing of the the 1986 Barry Bonds XRC. It showed the "worth" of the card as $24.83 and the Lowest price as $3.35 and the highest as $2,499.99.
In order to price it more accurately, you have to scroll through a list of auctions and select/deselect cards that match the card you are pricing, for instance bypassing graded cards, lots, and anything other than the 1 x individual card that I am pricing. If I am going to go through all that trouble of pricing one card for one person (myself) in that one instance, why wouldn't I put forth the same effort to price one card, for everyone and create a historical record of pricing forever? It may require slightly more work, but the benefit far outweighs the negligible difference in time and effort.
Again, just my opinion, but even with the the previously mentioned disagreements about pricing on this site, I feel like most of the prices are closer to an actual legitimate price for any given card. Obviously there are outliers and exceptions where prices are old or intentionally manipluated, but where the prices are and where they are going are the best thing available, and if ADMIN institutes controls to illiminate faulty prices, it'll just get that much better.
If we wanted good and reliable "real-time pricing" on this site, ADMIN could build an internal marketplace with reliable "completed transaction" data. I wouldn't be opposed to that, it'd be less work for users (manually vs. automatically inputting prices), more options for collectors (buy/sell/trade), and more traffic and revenue for admin (sales commisions/more eyeballs coming to browse card market and a more reliable "price guide") ... win/win/win.

OK, so a Real Time pricing is possible. And maybe the answer. Not sure ADMIN would be agreeable, but if it establishes a "truer" value it might be what we need. Interesting!
If it is truer, easier and automatic, I might actually turn it on. Oops, I did turn it it back on the other day.....told you like ping pong.

Shifting gears from the Bonds XRC for a moment, another thing I've noticed is how graded cards are priced erroneously. Take for instance, the Honus Wagner T206 (https://www.tradingcarddb.com/Price.cfm/sid/0/cid/2165/1909-11-American-Tobacco-Company-T206-White-Border-NNO-Honus-Wagner). I took some liberties to backlog recorded sales of the card (PM me with a link to better historical references if you notice any sale prices/dates that I've listed are incorrect).
Look specifically at the PSA 2 graded card. The site's quick reference table lists the PSA 2 price at $577,856.89. However, the card most recently sold for over twice that amount ($1.2M) and all six of the last six sales were for more than $577,856.89 (see chart):
The site appears to take an average of all the sales prices (which in this case date as far back as 9/8/2000). Clearly there is a rising trendline of sales prices (red line) and the data is telling us where both the price is and where it is going. Admittedly, this is a clean example where the price of the card has demonstrated a steady increase in sales price, but this also exposes a flaw in the calculation methodology of the site.
So, assuming that all the source data is correct, what is the best "price" to depict for a PSA 2 Honus Wagner today? $577,856.89 (average of all prices)? $657,250 (median of last 5)? $1.2M (last sale price or average of last sales over X amount of time)? Or something higher that has never occured (an estimate/appraisal price based on the trendline calculation of historical prices over time).
I apologize in advance for offering no solutions in this post, just stirring the pot with food for thought and further discussion.

Couldn't a built in eliminator be added. Drop the highest price, Drop the lowest price, average the remaining prices: all?, last 5? or over time? I'm certainly not a graduate of Statistics but could something like this work?
