Dick Butkus was one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history. His career was shortened, because of injury. I never did see him play, but enjoyed watching him in beer commercials. He will be missed. RIP Dick Butkus.

I only know him from the Blue Thunder TV show and highlights from NFL Films, but he was a joy to watch in those old clips.

One of the toughest guys in football and his off-field persona belied that in commercials and movies. I've always judged other linebackers against Butkus; few ever surpassed him.
RIP Mr. Butkus.

He was listed #1 on the NFL documentary "100 All-Time Toughest Players". Not many have been so physical / successful since.
The light-hearted approach he displayed in his later years regarding that aura was fun to watch.

Not a football fan at all, but I grew up watching him in the Disney film "Gus".

Rip. One of the greatest Chicago bears of all time, if not the greatest.

I grew up a big Butkus fan. As a kid #51 was my favorite. He was unquestionably the best. RIP
