My poor, tired eyes initially read the name as the "Karens" which would have been hilarious, but Krakens works too...

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

I love the name and not to be nitpicky, but I hate singular team names. I would have preferred Seattle Krakens. Oh well.

I agree. I think there were some copyright issues though that the team didn't want to fight about. A local romance novelst created a hockey team called the Sockeyes and used them throughout her books. She copyrighted the name and perhaps she was willing to sell the copyright but the team probably didn't want to bother.

I said Kraken from day one, love the logo and such but a touch too much blue, need some black on those home jerseys. The kraken live where there is no light afterall. Like the shout out to the space needle on the shoulder patches and the Font for the Kraken name is killer. I am pumped and they make the VGK jerseys pale in comparison, "There's no grey in sports jeresys" think Tom Hanks in League of their own!! LOL

Just saw the annoucement video ...looked great. Not much of a hockey fan and I know nothing about hockey history. But I was shocked to find out that Seattle Metropolitians were the first US team to win the Stanley Cup way back in I think 1917. That is where the styling of the S comes from to honor them. Another team to collect.

Lmfao! I was in stitches when I read this last night! I tried to tell this to a few co-workers today and "kracked" up each time as well. One guy even said "They can't honestly be naming their arena that!"
