Prior to last year, I didn't follow the sport too closely. Started following the Golden Knights last year after discovering their games were on our satellite provider. However, being in the Pacific Northwest, I'll probably add them to the teams I'm loyal to. Might even have to start an Upper Deck team set collection.

Rather than Krakhouse (which will likely stick on the everyday person, the term The Kraken Barrel might get more media hype as its family friendly.

I really think it is being called climate pledge arena.
https://climatepledgearena.com/
I was in seattle late this spring and heard it on the radio up there.. they wanted people to send in their nicknames. the best one i heard was, since it is being sponsored by amazon, "the we cut down half the amazon forest to make cardboard boxes to ship things in arena"......
I submitted "the hoax" but my suggestion was not aired.

I know its not going to be called the Krakhouse. Fans will likely call it that unofficially if they don't like the team, but then again to me it sounds better than the Climate Pledge Arena. I doubt I'd even have to cite the name of the arena anyways, and if I did I'd call it the arena where the Kraken play.

I'd offer the name "Kraken Cage", but I'm afraid the PETA folk might be upset about the mental image of all those poor lil baby Krakens in cages...
*turns off bad humor mode after the fact!*
Doh!

There will always be unofficial "bad names" for places. When the Spectrum (arena) in Philly was no longer being used and the new arena was put in place, it was sponsored by First Union Bank. They also sponsored the Spectrum.
New arena - The First Union Center
Old arena - The First Union Spectrum
Unofficial names - The FU and the FU2.

My wife completely thought this is what my son and I were talking about last night. My son (16-autistic) says he wants "some Kraken" much to her shock.

At some point they should get Harry Hamlin & Michael Buffer to come up and duel it out on who has the best voice for : "Release the Kraken"

Saw the logo for the team. Kind of reminds me of the S in the White Sox logo.

Abouth the arena names, some reporters and commentators stick to always use the full name, but I like when people try to avoid using the sponsor name. In Detroit, locals often call it LCA, the doughjoe or the pizza box instead of Little Ceasar Arena. The MTS Centre in Winnipeg is nicknamed the phone booth and Pittsburgh had the Igloo. If it called Climate Pledge Arena, I guess that Seattle will end by calling it CPA, but a better nickname is always welcomed to replace the abbreviation. Just imagine when Preparation H or Ex-Lax will sponsor a building.
