Personally I'm not a fan of "point farming", and to me those that do it are easy to spot, as they only upload the fronts of cards and not the back, or copy the back from one to all of its parallels. I have spoken to one member who takes all their images off eBay even though they have little to no cards in hand.
I bought myself a scanner just to get good images on the site, and it's served me well for a couple years now.

I could probably buy the already complete sets cheaper somewhere else, but I like getting my maildays.

I never understood the issue some here have with "point farming", not that I fully understand the whole concept of "point farming" to begin with. Sure, you can gain added permissions on the site.. then what? I think the stat is something like only 30% of all cards listed here actually have images. It isn't too hard to get points quickly. And whether users are uploading images because they want to vs they are farming points, don't we all win if more (valid!!!) images are uploaded?

Too often I have seen the wrong images being uploaded. Then when this is discovered, it takes convincing the powers that be that it is the wrong images and to get them taken down. The last time I cared enough, I had to acquire some of the cards to prove that what I knew for sure was correct. The point farmer did lose those points but I have seen that it has not deterred him from continuing his trade. I see no fun in what he is doing; he really needs to get a life.
We preach accuracy in what is presented on this site yet we allow this to happen. Many of you screamed foul when that other site copied all of your images yet, is TCDb allowing its members to do the same any better in that regard? There is a word for that, I just can't come up with it right off the top of my head.

I'm reviving this thread to remind users that cards scanned in One-touch, penny sleeves, and/or top loaders create a 'soft' or out-of-focus image, therefore should not be uploaded as such. Please scan all cards raw.

And I'll give it another bump to add that nobody should be submitting card images (packaging is fine) that come from a camera, such as a "scanning" app on your phone. And Mike's right--please remove your cards from anything protective that isn't a slab, and crop out the slab if you've got something graded or uncirculated. Thank you!

I've got an auto-feed scanner, so it's really fast, but quite often, it scans foil colors as black. I try to tweak the contrast etc. to show them more accurately, but sometimes I lose a bit of color accuracy. It's a lot faster than doing one side at a time on a flatbed scanner, so I'll stick with it.

I'm continually entering tradeable inventory. Full want lists are at https://thecollectivemind.blogspot.com/p/baseball-wants.html Use the green tabs to navigate. Have entered 1994 thru 2021 baseball and 2009 thru 2020 football so far. Don't have many newer than 2020 except A&G in baseball, and very little beyond 2019 in football. My extra hockey is older than that. The best I have for a tradelist otherwise is https://thecollectivemind.blogspot.com/search/label/Disperse%20the%20Hoard

Another reminder to everyone: please don't take pictures of cards sitting on stands on your dining room table and expect them to be approved.

I'd argue that an uncirculated slab should be part of the image. If that's how the card was released initially by the company, then that's the unaltered version.

Turning off trading because my collection is in complete disarray after moving and I don't know when I can get it organized.

In the checklists, we are documenting the cards. In the packaging, we are documenting how they were sent out.
Slabs can be shown in the Packaging area. In the checklists, cards only, no slabs.

-- Dan -- Note: Please see my profile for more info regarding trading (section updated 3/4/2024). I have added a large portion of my inventory to the site, and currently have trading turned on (details are in my profile).

This is still an issue. I wish users who have X "Problem" images would be alerted (with image not posted) and/or restricted. I have attempted to reach out to multiple users regarding their photos, but none respond.
