I did a 43 card for 42 card trade with a user on this site back in the fall of 2020. To this day the cards have not arrived so its safe to say they won't. In March we agreed they are considered lost and I requested different cards to make up for it. Believe me I feel bad making that ask but the rare time my cards don't arrive at their destination I want to make it right and openly offer to make things right, so I guess I'm holding this situation to the same standard. I've sent him my list and his responses have become more tardy but the last message from him was on April 12, with him saying that he was going to pull the cards the next day. I've heard nothing from him since and his last logon to the site was on April 20 - more then a month ago now - whereas prior to that he was on here virtually every day.
How would you handle this situation? I was thinking of leaving neutral or negative feedback for the original transaction and hope that caught his attention. I've never had to leave negative or neutral feedback before... if I do that how long do I have to change it to positive should I decide to do that?

You only have either 12 or 24 hours to Edit a Feedback (can't remember which). If he's not logging on, he won't see it anyway. He'll get an email about the feedback, but that doesn't mean he'll check in then either. Without more info (like shipping method), I really can't offer any advice. He could have had an issue that prevents him from getting online (health or otherwise). But he also still had a week before his last login to pull and ship the cards for you. At least with him not logging in for a month, you know he is not ripping off people from that account.

By him not being on here for a month. Many things could have happened like an accident or crossing over the river. If it was me before leaving negitive feedback i would do some research. You have his name and address check a few of the local newspapers for an obit. Also you could call his local post office to see if they had been mailed. It is possible he got the address wrong and they went to somebody who didn't mail them back to him.My last trade with one member i spelled Canada wrong.Hee Hee

Not sure why it took until March to decide they weren't coming. I'd just turn the page and move on. Things happen. Hopefully the 40some-odd cards weren't Trout rookies....

I would have no problem supporting negative feedback due to the lack of communication now. If he is dead, he won't care. If he has an illness keeping him from logging on then he can explain his side to future trade partners. If I were trading with him in the future I would want to know about this case.

If you share his name/id you will soon find out more info as others may chime in having had an experience similar to yours with this person,or have knowledge that they have indeed been in an accident, contracted the 19 etc..
It does have a scent of avoidance to it though.
Have a great weekend!

You had a negative experience. Leave negative feedback. I still don't understand why there is such a hesitancy to leave negative feedback in justifiable situations

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

I have had two similar trades run like yours is as far as not receiving the cards in the expected time. Both were from last July. One did offer to send me replacement cards as he did not wish to lose me as a potential trade partner; the other did ask if I had ever received the cards. To both I said no but that with everything going on (stories of huge mail back up in USPS warehouses), I could be patient. For one of the trades, the patience was worth it as I did eventually receive the cards from one of the individuals, 8 months after he had mailed them. I have never received the other trade and we are now 10 months from supposed mailing date. I have never left negative or neutral feedback for this individual as I have to give him the benefit of the doubt and do not wish to mar his feedback on something that may not be of his doing (I am taking into consideration the mail backups). But it does leave a sour taste and because of that bit of doubt, I have not accepted any other trades from him.
The bit of information that you have not provided is what this other member's feedback is like. Is he sitting with 100% and hundreds of comments or is he relatively new to trading with only a couple of handfuls of comments. This would influence my decision on further action. I would not negatively comment on him in the Forums but you might ask if anyone has heard from him. Also, his feedback will tell you if he has had other trades completed since yours, especially since the time of his last communication.
Be careful in what you post in the Forums; some don't like others bringing in negative vibes about other traders.

While when leaving positive feedback it doesn't matter if you leave a lot or a little. But make sure when you are leaving negative feedback you should put as much information as possible so people understand why the negative feedback was left rather than just "shipping issues" or whatever.

The user is "seppola10". To date his feedback is 100% and has completed 48 trades but the last feedback received is from early March. This is our first trade together. He has suggested he has had other matters to attend to prior to stopping coming onto the site but at the same time he has said multiple times he wants to make the deal right and has said he'd send the cards promptly. His last communication to me was "Sent: Mon, 4/12/2021 8:08 PM I will pull these tonight and accept. Should be able to ship Wednesday"
