The post office has all rates posted in both.a pdf and html file on their website which gives the cost breakdown to mail to whatever country. I believe the breakdown to Canada goes by how many ounces the package is.
I've done over 450 trades and have never gone to the post office counter to mail anything. A cheap scale and the link to PayPal International shipping is all you need. Print your shipping label at home and then just drop in the dropbox at the post office.

None of this makes sense to me unless priority international shipping is being used and up to .5 pounds ($66.95 for Priority Mail Express International). If it's a bubble mailer then you may be exceeding certain parameters for first class international mailing. I just sent about 20 cards yesterday to someone in Canada and it was $1.69. I've had several large trades with other Canadians in the past month and paid $6.12 for about 180 cards.

And for anyone who has traded with Wayne, we know he's a straight shooter (and I've been the beneficiary of a few unexpected extras in a trade) so definitely not a question of integrity. With that said, I did mail out a few items to Canada yesterday to include a PWE that didn't make the thickness cut and got charged as a package. Even that one was only $4. Something isn't right at the PO, doesn't make sense.

When I questioned the proposed freight on a potential US to NZ potential purchase (75 USD) I was told it was because they could only ship with priority express etc delivery at the moment. I believe this was with Fedex. No idea if there is something similar at play.

From those I receive, mailhas been slower but it hasn't cost any more to send than what it did before the extra restrictions were put in place. I think this postie is reading more into the extra regulations than he needs to.
It is this kind of issue that makes sense to do it all yourself. And to all, patience as to receiving the packages. I have had up to 7 weeks; right now I have one that is 5 weeks and counting. Yet some get here in less than 3 weeks.
Wayne has been on this site for as long as I can remember and I think one of the highly respected members. Anyone who would think bad of him really doesn't follow the site much.

In the past two weeks I have received to bubble mailers from the USA containing approx . 30 cards each and the postage was $12.25 up from about $10.00 or so the previous times so an increase but as some have conjectured an anomaly at this office or to Joshua's point trying to invoke Priority shipping .

Definitely sounds like the PO is pushing Priorty since I have never heard of a shippin rate just arbitrarily increasing. For 36 cards, yuo could just put them in a page 4 to a pocket and send it in a manila envelope as a flat.

FWIW, Australia is having similiar issues what i am told. I had a package going to austrailia that was lost for a month to JC KAZAMA from on here. Lost tracing data after it hit the AUS shores. I have another package coming from AUS through ebay that has been lost for a month. Still waiting.

i dont know about you guys, but the USPS is going out of their way to charge as much as possible. they are complaining about a budget deficit and are not getting any form of government bailout. I havent had issues sending to canada, but my US trades are having issues. The other day they charged me 2x for all the bubble mailers i sent out. $4+ when usually they are under $2 to ship. they told me they are no longer offering "first class" at this time and to make things worse, most of my PWE's are getting "lost" or damaged...so i have to pay $4 + per trade to ensure i get tracking now...that just isn't in my budget to send out tradeds at that price. I've canceled a few PWE trades because of this.
I have been buying stamps at the post office window and they have been stamping non machinable and applying postage, so i dont understand why they would be run thru the machine after all that...
