The look of the cards is iconic. In the last 7 years I have put together 1-311 aiming for the red and black backs w/o paper loss. Only missing about a dozen cards to finish. I have quite a few extras to trade if anyone is interested. Perhaps I could find a wrapper from this set without paying 100's of bucks for it. This is no doubt the #1 set in my collection. Followed by 1986-87 Fleer basketball set & 1948 Bowman

No way would I ever have thought I could put a decent set like this together. I have enjoyed collecting cards all my life. I wonder if anyone else has the same feeling about it

Bought my first pack of cards in July, 1952. Nickel pack of Topps, in it were Walt Dropo (just traded to my Tigers) and Bobby Shantz (leading A.L. pitcher, eventually winning 24). Had a few 1951 Bowmans from a friend's older brother.

Are we rating these sets on their look and style.. or based on the players within... or the value of these cards? Mixture of all three? It's hard to quantify such a iconic set of baseball cards. I personally try rate these based on their visual appeal. As that was their intent before vaule was even considered.

I regret opening these packs just for the gum (bad). I must have had the most expensive sound effects inserting these cards into the spokes of my bike. Among other things, this is my greatest disappointment though it had to create a shortage of cards printed.

In my quest to complete my childhood dream of owning the whole collection of Topps baseball cards, I seriously doubt that I'll ever complete this one. I did complete the reprint set along with originals for the 5 unreleased reprints. Great set. of course. Wish Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Casey Stengel, and a host of others had cards in this set.

What a treat to see! I collected cards from the early era(started at 1954 when I was 8 years old)but I had 2 older brothers who had the 1952 cards). Of course, we never had the foresight nor the money to keep them in that condition. We flipped them against the wall and maybe kept some of our beloved Dodgers aside(Furillo, Snider,Podres, Labine, Robinson, Hodgers, etc.). The typical story happened to me. Went into the Army in 1966 and my beloved Mom gave them to my cousins.(no regrets at all) Would you trade 3 catseye marbles for the 52 Mantle? Just joking. Thanks! Bob Bartell
