The Card After

by domentho - 40 cards (Last updated on Apr 20, 2023)

11. 1986 Topps Traded #12T Bobby Bonilla

This card has the notable distinction of following the #11T Barry Bonds rookie card.

Interesting that Bobby Bonilla is right after Barry Bonds. It's like Topps knew they'd be together on the Pittsburgh Pirates in the early 90's.

12. 1975 Topps #224 Ramon Hernandez

This card has the notable distinction of following the #223 Robin Yount rookie card.

Ramon's got the more interesting background...and nothing else.

13. 1975 Topps #229 Barry Foote

This card has the notable distinction of following the #228 George Brett rookie card.

This guy got the "All-Star Rookie Cup", walkin' like a boss!

14. 1968 Topps #178 Don Wert

This card has the notable distinction of following the #177 Nolan Ryan/Jerry Koosman rookie card.

Looks like Don's trying to scare us into thinking his card is better, but it ain't.

15. 1971 Topps #6 Ed Spiezio

This card has the notable distinction of following the #5 Thurman Munson "All-Star Rookie Cup" rookie card.

This card is the exact opposite of the greatness which preceded it.

This looks like Pee-We Herman taking a weak, fake swing while looking off in the distance like he just hit it out of the park! The photographer was more interested in getting the blue sky in this photo.

16. 1980 Topps #483 Bo Diaz

This card has the notable distinction of following the #482 Rickey Henderson rookie card.

Someone's happy to be listed next to Rickey! The headshot, just like the signature and the card itself, is a bit off-center. Go Guardians! I mean, Indians...

17. 2006 Topps #298 Jason Botts

This card has the notable distinction of following the #297 Alex Gordon rookie card, which was pulled from production due to a licensing issue.

Nice running shot. Name's pretty cool. That's about it here.

18. 2018 Topps Update #US2 Joe Jimenez

This card has the notable distinction of following the #US1 Shohei Ohtani "All-Star Rookie Cup" rookie card.

Really nice horizontal card. Would be nice if there were more fans in the seats and the ball still in view to color it up a bit.

Credit to jdogg1228 for the suggestion.

19. 1978 Topps #37 Rick Waits

This card has the notable distinction of following the #36 Eddie Murray "All-Star Rookie Cup" rookie card.

Too much green in the photo for the green border. Otherwise, a great Picture Day photo.

Credit to Mike67 for the suggestion.

20. 1984 Fleer Update #U-28 Jaime Cocanower

This card has the notable distinction of following the #U-27 Roger Clemens rookie card.

That name! That face! That uniform! Yeah, I got a thing for blue uniforms, but this card definitely has some appeal to it.

Checking the back of Laga's card to see maybe that is something like a Cub road uniform that got the paint job over, but he was a Tiger previously, and they also were white/grey like the Cardinals in 1985/1986.  Could be a black batting  jersey. 🤷🏻‍♂️

jdogg1228: I can't put the card after Honus Wagner because it isn't a numbered set.  Sorry.

No worries about the tobacco card.

By the way, this is the card after the Shohei Ohtani rookie.

How about Forrest Jacobs, the guy right after Hank Aaron's rookie card? https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/33/cid/6320?PageIndex=1
