Lots of good signings going on in the offseason for MLB!
I like when super-star players sign with new teams, and see the ways that they'll impact them.
It could be Baez, Scherzer, and Seager with their new teams, OR
it could also be something like Marcus Semien with the Rangers and Corey Kluber with the Rays.
Super fun and exciting!
I would like to hear what everyone thought some star players would end up with before they were signed.

I thought the Blue Jays would keep Semien and I thought the Giants would keep Gausman.
Very surprising all around, I couldn't have predicted any of these signings so far.

What about Ray to the Mariners. I saw a chart 2 days ago that showed the Orioles and some other team's opening day pay roll and Mad Max is making more than the ENTIRE team for that year. I never thought I'd see Scherzer in NY or Semien in Texas. The Rangers are making moves. Watch out.

It's kind of bittersweet. The furious hot stove action has been exciting, but it's being driven by an expiring CBA and looming lock out. Hopefully it won't impact the 2022 season too much, but I don't have a lot of faith in either side.
Also Rangers are going to be one expensive 80 win team.....

Not sure that I love it, but it is interesting.
As a Nationals/Scherzer fan, that deal is a little nauseating. Im glad for him to get that much money at the end of his career but the Mets...!?
I think its interesting seeing the Mariners Tigers and Rangers in on things and the Dodgers Yankees Phillies and RedSox doing next to nothing. You can see that the plans and waiting in the weeds for some teams has gone on long enough. Marlins have been interesting too.
Now where does Correa go? Has to be back to Houston unless he is trying to cut ties with that part of his legacy???
Edited to add this quote...
"Once the deal is finalized, the Mets will have handed out $254.5 million in guaranteed contracts, including an MLB-record $45.3 million average annual value for Scherzer, giving the Mets the highest payroll in the Majors by a significant margin. The team has not led baseball in payroll since 1989, when they did so with a $21.3 million Opening Day figure -- or a little less than Scherzer will make before the All-Star break."

It's not my money, but I'd give Correa the keys to Minute Maid. Altuve may be the sparkplug to get them going, but Correa has shown to be the leader on and off the field.
Signing Verlander was a great risk/reward move and I'm glad they did it.

I like the Baez signing for the Tigers, though not as much as the Eduardo Rodriguez deal. The 6 years deal for a player two years younger than Correa fits the approach that the Tigers have preached through the rebuild. I thought Correa was a better fit, but it doesn't look like the Tigers were willing to pay the asking price. My biggest hang-up with Baez is all the K's, but that's baseball these days. Just happy that the tear down is over and they're showing an effort to compete!

Well, hopefully this marks the beginning of the Tigers actually being relevant again. The way that they are rebuilding, the team should be good for years to come. Knowing the Tigers, though, they'll screw it up somehow.
Frankly, my hangup on Baez is the Ks (As stated before). I'm not looking forward to seeing swings like these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4XCkSG-kNk
