What a Sh&$ show. Why wouldnt they think to bring out the blowers earlier, Harvick , Truex and others were taken out over pure stupidity. And then to end it like they did, what a waste. THey should have opene the back bumper cover to get rid of some of the tails, Hope they can correct this beofre next Road Course

I thought the racing at COTA was AWESOME in the Truck race! The NXS race was pretty boring. The Cup race was INSANE!!! Barring the NXS race, it was all riveting. I don't like how NASCAR dealt with the issues in the Cup race though. But you still have to think about the fact that this was the first time ANYTHING NASCAR has been on that track. NASCAR didn't know what to expect in the first place. The NXS race was the problem in that scenario for the weekend. It was completely dry for that whole race and gave NASCAR nothing to plan for with the Cup race. The trucks are so completely different from the Cup cars. The trucks produced very little back-spray (or rooster-tails) behind the vehicle. BUT, after the simultaneous separate incidents of Blaney/Bell and Harvick/Bubba on the soaked backstretch, NASCAR should have done something right then. Clint Bowyer even said it from the booth. "They need to send the Air Titans over there.". But NASCAR officials waited until after the most horrific wreck I have seen in quite a while to even consider a plan. That Truex/Custer wreck was probably the scariest wreck I have seen in well over 20 years of watching NASCAR races. Dale Sr. died in a wreck that looked like nothing compared to what Martin and Cole went through on Sunday. That was insane and it should have never happened. NASCAR blew it right there. But the tipping point to ticking off the fans was calling the race off with 14 laps to go for the same rain-rate that was happening when all those wrecks happened.
Personally, I was okay with NASCAR calling it off at that point for the safety of drivers and personnel. It was getting dark b/c of the heavy rain coming in, the sun was setting in a couple of hours, the track does NOT have lighting, and it would have taken another hour or so to clear the standing water from the back-stretch b/t turns 11 and 12 AGAIN. I'd LOVE to see NASCAR go there again next season, but I'd hope for dry conditions or a much better rain-plan than they had this year. NASCAR was REALLY not prepared for the weather that happened at that track this year.
As for Kurt Busch, that was an AWESOME save when he floored it through the gravel to make it to the grass to keep the car moving. Straight-up experience and skill from Kurt to pull that off. I'd bet money that over half the field in Sunday's race would have locked the brakes hoping to stay out of the gravel. Then they would have been stuck in the gravel and getting hauled out by a tow truck. Kurt made one of the most impressive moves of the whole race right there. Maybe even the most impressive move of the season so far.
Now I'm ready for the 600 at Charlotte on Sunday. I'll also watch the Indy 500 as well. Happy Memorial Day Weekend everyone!

Haven't really followed it in years, but have noticed that even F-1 has stopped some races due to standing/running
water on the track.....
The Truex incident pretty similar to an incident at Spa 20 years ago or so,
Raining like the devil, Schumacher flying around the track, a McClaren basically stopped on a straightaway....
For years Schumacher claimed the McClaren tried to kill him....
