@ Bolo - That's out of my local news area too. That's why I asked. My local news only goes southwest to Davie and Davidson Counties. They cover all the NC/VA border counties to the TN border but nothing south of the Wilkesboro area really. My local FOX news only does 6pm and 10pm on Sundays. I was watching the race during the 6pm hour but the 10pm news is fixing to start.
As for the M'ville Cup race: That was pretty boring for the 1st half, but it got really interesting in the 2nd half, esp. the final stage. That got crazy! The "parking lot" on the straightaway when Rowdy and Buescher spun reminded me of the 2019 Fall race when Rowdy and someone else spun in the same spot and blocked the track. Just like that race, Truex pulled off the win again. During the race, I was paying attention to the crowd that was allowed to attend and it was odd. Whenever they showed Jeff and Clint from their booth, all I could think about was how much green grass you could see behind them on the other side of the track. That is the RV Campground and it was basically empty. Every time I've been to the track, that whole area is covered with RV's and you can barely see any ground. I did like seeing that M'ville let the fans in the stands spread out for this race instead of clustering them on the frontstretch. There were fans in every section of the stands. Looked like my usual seats in Turn 3 were still available.

I couldn't believe Gordon was there, seeing was only couple days ago he announced he had covid. But oh well. Glad to see MTJ pull it out again. He is one of the best all round drivers. Saves his stuff till he needs to

Gordon's announcement of having COVID was after he recovered from it. He apparently tested positive after the Bristol Dirt Race. With the off-week for Easter, he was clear to return for this weekend. Do you think Clint and Jeff would have shared that booth the past 24 hours or so WITHOUT masks if anyone thought Jeff was contagious? I do think the efforts to "contain the virus" is getting much more relaxed in every aspect of the US and that might be a bad thing. We see more and more athletes testing positive for it in recent weeks. But it seems like the effects of it are becoming less for those contracting it. MAYBE!
I'm not really concerned about the virus and have not (and will not) get the C-19 vaccine, but I still wear a "procedure mask" whenever I enter a building that I don't live in. My Mom got the vaccine a few days ago and felt like crap for 3 days afterwards. I don't even get the normal flu shot, so there is no way I'd get that shot. At 42 years old, I've only had any type of flu twice in my entire life! Once in 1989 or 1990 as a kid and once more in 2008. Considering that I've worked in a medical facility since 2006, I have an amazing track record when it comes to any form of influenza. I'll take my chances that I am smart enough to avoid it and/or fight it off if I were to contract the virus.

Skipped out on much of the last stage to have dinner....
Though after the first part, was about asleep anyways....
They mentioned it but it didn't discuss, NASCAR removed the grass in the turns outside the curbs and paved them over....
Never understood why they hadn't removed it and widened the track in the corners, but just to pave it over
seems to be a waste of time and money.....
Missed part of the race and didn't concentrate on what I saw early, but don't recall anyone hitting the curbs
at all....

I forgot there was racing this weekend, so I missed it all. I think it was on channels I don't get, so I wasn't too worried anyways. I guess I should keep a schedule handy for all the races, but it was Wrestlemania weekend, and despite not watching it, that got most of my attention.

Several drivers made good use of that new asphalt in the corners to avoid someone spinning in front of or beside them. Had they done it with the grass still there, they'd have gotten stuck in the mud as well as tearing up the splitter on the curb. Other than avoiding other vehicles, they mostly stayed just off of the curbs. I think it was smart to pave the grassy area. Not only does it save damage to cars when they HAVE to drive through there, but now M'ville doesn't have to maintain those 2 little strips of grass inside the track. They already have acres of grassy parking lots to mow outside of the track, so why not take out those couple dozen feet on each end of the track? I didn't know they had done it and the FOX crew didn't say any more than mentioning that the grass was paved now.

Only heard them mention it once, cameras caught it a number of times....
Rarely catch pre-race shows, possible they discussed it on one of them....
Would have suggested they remove the curbs and pave it right up to the pit wall.....
Someone mentioned Gordon having covid, noticed on several broadcasts,
the broadcasers were separated by plastic panels, basically putting them in cubicles.....
