That's something I don't like.
Just because your driver didn't win, I don't feel like throwing trash onto the track is acceptable.

In 50 years of watching NASCAR, that's the only time I recall it happening.....
It wasn't about someone losing, it was about how NASCAR treated the situation....
Totally opposite of previous situations....
Thought for years, a crash inside 10 laps should reset the count back to 10 laps remaining....

I can only remember it happening twice
1)2002 at Daytona because they finished race under caution, and in that case they had to turn cars around on the track to go down pit road cause there was so much trash on front stretch.
2) 2007 at "Dega when Gordon beat Jr. under caution . Only difference is they were throwing at Gordon not just on the track. I remember seeing dents o his car from "FANS" throwing full beer cans at him.
Oops forgot Phoenix the week before also in 2007. Again Gordon the recipient because he tied Dale Earnhardt's win record, which he then passed the next week in Talladega , Mentioned above
I know there were lots of arrests in all cases.
These are the reasons we now have green-White_Checkers across the NASCAR platform

FOX is actually airing MOST of their live Cup Series races on the FOX national broadcast stations this year. The rest of their run this year is 6 on FOX and 8 on FS1. But that includes the All Star Open and ASR which have been on FS1 (or SPEED) since the beginning. The only FOX races so far that were on FS1 was the Clash and the Duels in Daytona. I like that FOX has moved more races to the national broadcast network. I hope they keep it that way in the years to come. NBC surely hasn't done so for 2021. 12 of their races will be on NBCSN with only 8 on NBC and 5 of those are Chase races.
When NBCSN shuts down, USA Network does get all of the NBCSN races until the NBC contract is completed. Who knows where the races move to when that contract is done, but I'd guess ABC/ESPN first or CBS/Viacom second. I'd say Disney over Viacom b/c CBS has golf that they'd rather air over any other sport, while Disney has NBA that usually happens later in the day on Sundays. BUT ABC also already has IndyCar races and that could cause a conflict of scheduling. Wouldn't it be crazy if another major broadcast company like Discovery got involved though?! That would be a huge score for their Discovery+ app, but watching a NASCAR race on Science Channel or Animal Planet would just be weird! If it goes to some streaming platform only though, I'm done. I pay for satellite TV to watch things live or at least DVR them while I am at work to watch when I get home. Streaming TV sucks for numerous reasons to me. I tried it once and it's not for me.
Going back to the GWC though, I like that NASCAR put that in b/c I hated seeing a race finish under caution for several laps. If the caution didn't happen on the final lap, they need to try again to see who's the real winner. I'd also be okay with Stage Break caution laps not counting AND endless cleanup laps at some tracks, but sometimes you just want the race to end already. I doubt the teams would agree to those though. The GWC already throws a monkey-wrench into the plans when it comes to planning for fuel and tires during a race. Adding random extra laps to a race would not be good for the teams. NASCAR is trying to make the races more cost-effective for the teams, especially the minor teams. So, saying a race at Martinsville is going to be 500 laps when the caution laps and stage break laps don't count means the race could easily end up running 550 laps or more. That's a big hit to small teams just in the fuel and tires they have to use for those extra 50 laps.

Some of that has been helped by the judious use of "Red Flags"....
Far as I'm aware, teams still don't pay for fuel....
There was a push for larger teams to supply tires to smaller teams....
Wouldn't hurt for 3 or 4 car teams to provide one set each, how a small team would qualify to receive
them would be important....
Stage Breaks with an accident, shouldn't allow pit stops till the mess is cleaned up....
There have been way too many cautions with 2 or 3 laps remaining, where one or two cars spun but didn't hit anything but took a bit to get going or were going slow... those need to be eliminated....

I know they don't pay for fuel, but they still have to fill the cans. If they think they have enough in the car on what should be the final pit stop, they won't have a full can to use if the race runs way longer due to laps not counting.
I agree with you about a caution ending a stage, no pit stops until clean-up is complete EXCEPT for those involved in the accident, if necessary.
As for the last point, that really depends on the track. At the short tracks, it is almost required to slow all the cars down to avoid a much bigger accident. At a road course, not at all needed. For the rest of the tracks (1.5 mile to superspeedway), it really just depends on where on the track related to the leader and/or where in the field of cars the spin(s) happened.
Lastly, I prefer the red flag for clean-up or weather over 10+ laps of caution flag. Except when it's really hot and they need the airflow, I'm sure the drivers would prefer taking a break over creeping around at 35-55 mph for many laps.

Being a Truex fan I thought it was a great race, Lots of comers and goers. Truex is not someone you would exspect to win at Pheonix, So the surprise winners keeps going. But the cream starting to rise to the top. But great race overall. IMO
