What is "completing a project?" I have several open ones that I can't get a handle on. Of course, I have less and less free time as work demands and continuing education rear their ugly heads. If one counts hand collecting together a vintage set then that would be my '72 Topps baseball set. Started with nothing 5 years ago and thanks to some great dealers I knocked huge chunks quite easily (and cheaply). About a year ago I finally killed the base set by finally finding on Orioles team card that wasn't overpriced. Almost done the master set, just need a couple Cubs green variations.

I only collect hockey and for me the biggest was to have every O-Pee-Chee and Topps set from the 80s. They are the cards from my childhood and the ones I will always have a special place in my heart and memory. I was able to complete this minus the 79-80 O-Pee-Chee understanding that it is not feasible.
I also had the goal of reaching 800 Gretzky cards that I have passed so now on to reaching 1000 🤞🏻

I thankfully finished the 80s runs right before the pandemic. Would be a lot more unrealistic to get some of the big cards nowadays. I finished the 70s Topps run before pricing all fell apart too. Working 70s OPC still, but yeah, that pesky 79/80 set always sems to be a huge barrier. Can't figure out why though.

My longest running, and most satisfying to complete, project...completing the full 90 pattern run of 1998 Topps Tek Scott Rolen cards. A project 25+ years in the making. Getting the final nine cards for that run also pushed me past the 3,500 unique Rolen card count in my collection.

I got very lucky with the 79-80 Topps set, I was even able to collect the full sticker inserts. I have 2 Topps sets from the 70s and will be adding more cards to the Wantlist slowly, need to finish some other almost completed sets first.
I slightly remember reading somewhere there is some dudes rookie in the 79-80 set that was supposed to be some hotshot, can’t remember his name 😜

Got lucky with my 79/80 Topps as well. Kruk had it posted for a steal of a price and I couldn't resist, damn my budget. Great buy and right before the pandemic.
Funny thing is, when I came back to the hobby in '17 I had only intended to chase BB. Hockey fanatics on this site "ruined" that plan...

Not sure if this will get me in trouble, but mine wasn't cards. I also collect coins. I wanted to get a copy of every circulating commemorative coin Canada has issued since stopping the use of silver
And do it via what goes through my hands, ie not go buy it
Took me 7 years, but I completed last month finally getting the last 2 dollar coin I had never gotten before. Coin was issued in 2017, took me until December 2023 to get one in my change.
