Excellent forum and interesting posts!
My last major pc project was collecting all the green parallels of the 2014 Prizm football base set (excluding the variations). I finished it last year with the final card coming from a TCD member; it took me almost three years to complete it since I had to search every crack and cranny for them: bought packs, bought lots, bought singles, and traded for all of them. It's easily one of my favorite card-collecting accomplishments. Currently, I'm looking to begin a new project, probably find another green parallel set I like and go for it. I will say though I think these projects keep the hobby more enjoyable for me since the sheer volume of trading cards available is very overwhelming; the focus of the project gives purpose to a collector who feels lost and indecisive on what to do with the madness of the current trading card world.

Building my Cardboard History Gallery. See link in signature. 740,823 images posted across 18506 albums.
Each set, person, team for sports and year for sports/type for non-sports has an album, as well as an extensive packaging archive, sell sheets, and more.
Just the uploading alone took me nearly 5 years. Laying the groundwork before uploading began started in 2009.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I have a couple life time projects that I’m close to finishing, but sadly don’t expect to ever finish.
- Complete run of Orioles team issued postcards, including variations. 98% complete, but a few are very rare.
- Home programs or scorecards from all the Orioles minor league affiliates from 1954 to present. 91% complete, but afraid some obscure teams might not be found. I still have hope since I found programs within the last couple of years for a couple teams I figured were impossible. 1961 Ardmore Rosebuds and 1954 & 1955 Thetford Mines Mineurs
It’s a labor of love. I’m not sure what I would do if I did finish them.

I have not begun to organize the cards yet but my next binder project is a card (pitcher) to represent every no hitter thrown in MLB history. I have tons of junkwax era stuff and The Conlon Collection cards from the early 90s to rep a lot of the no-no's from the early days.My plan is to create custom cards of anyone who may not have a card.

Not sure what mine would be, but many moons ago as a 9 year old completing the 1991 Regina Rugby Union set would be right up there. As far as I was/am aware I was the second kid at my primary school to do so.
The Walter Little All Black card was the last I needed and traded a kid from my bus 50 other cards for it — of course my little brother pulled one from a pack about two days later.
As a side note; when he learned I had completed the set the kid from the bus started accusing me of ripping him off. As I now had two of the Little I offered to trade him his card back for the 50 cards I gave him. He accused me of trying to rip him off again! Over 30 years later, I'm still not sure how I was meant to win that one.

Back in college one of my fraternity brothers was signed to an NFL contract as an undrafted rookie. Brad Hoover, fullback for the Carolina Panthers. I followed his career from the beginning to the end and all throughout I thought it would be a fun to collect all of his officially released cards.
It's been a while since I've really looked back at it since I only needed a couple to complete it, but as of my most recent list he had 112 cards, of which I currently own 98 of them. 13 of the remaining 14 are printing plates, so those are kind of up in the air... there is one true card that I am still looking for, it's his 2004 Score 'FINAL SCORE", serial numbered to 11 (the number of games the Panthers won in the previous season). I have never seen one in nearly 20 years. Just this last year I finally saw his 2001 Topps MVP promotion hit eBay, so I scooped it up ASAP, that leaves me with only the FINAL SCORE remaining. I have also added 15 or so 'non-official' releases such as uncut sheets, promo cards, and cards missing their serial numbers (replacements).
As an added bonus, now I have the itch to try and see what I can do with collecting a set of the 2004 'FINAL SCORE' cards. I think it sounds like a fun if not somewhat crazy 'lifelong' endeavor. As I mentioned, they're numbered to the total number of games won by the player's team from the 2003 season. There are 4 teams that won 4 games and 6 teams that won 5, so those are going to be quite difficult to find at a reasonable price, if at all.

When I started collecting in 1992, with my twin daughters, I didn't
really have a goal. I was happy to see their faces and hear their
laughter as they tore into packs. Living in the panhandle of Florida,
we made several trips to Atlanta to watch the Braves, so they had
to have some Chipper Jones cards. Soon, it was Frank Thomas(my
wife went to Auburn) and Ken Griffey Jr. A local card shopper owner
suggested building sets to get all the players, stars, rookies, and all
the no names, so we began building sets. We went to Saturday
trade days, Thursday night trade nights, and met a lot of nice folks.
I began buying collections from some of those traders and others
listed in the newspaper. After my girls reached high school in 1999,
baseball cards were no longer interesting, but I still enjoyed putting
sets together. Bowman, Donruss, Leaf, Select, Score, Upper Deck,
Stadium Club, Finest, Heritage, Ginter, Topps, and Update, I'd build
them all, and every now and then, full sets were in collections I bought.
I always tried to put together 2 sets, so each daughter would have one.
When Shortprints and Autos started being part of sets, I narrowed
my set building to Topps and Update. Later I included Ginter, some
Heritage, Archives, Gypsy and Bowman products. . In 2000, I decided
I would like to have a 50 year Topps run-SPs. I had most from 86-2000,
so I began going backwards to build the 73-85. The 73 has been a
tough one to finish, looks like I will have to buy the last 5 to complete it.
Either way, with the 2024 Topps set this year, I will achieve my goal of
completing 50 years of Topps sets! Thanks to everyone here that helped
me complete many of my Topps sets. I also have a run of all the Allen &
Ginter sets from 2006-2023, hope to keep that going too.
