When I trade, I expect the other trader to send at the same time within reason, unless it has been communicated before-hand. It seems like you are a newer trader so it's not that big of a deal now, but I actually have blocked a trader with hundreds of feedbacks that always shipped after they received their end. One trading partner should not be the one always assuming the risk I feel.

I think some of the advice thrown out here is maybe thrown out before having a complete understanding of all the details. I agree completely that the first step is to communicate with your trade partner that the cards arrived damaged. At this point I would not send your side until you hear back from your trade partner because you eliminate one potential outcome which might be that person saying just keep what you were going to send me.
I am also curious about more details on why the cards got damaged. Did a postal machine eat the envelope? Did your trade partner do a poor job on packaging what they sent? That would potentially be a factor in how I would resolve the issue.
To recap: first, contact the other party to let them know and see if you can reach a mutual agreement on how to resolve the problem.

I will echo some of what was already said, but each trade partner sends cards at the same time, unless it's agreed upon prior to accepting the trade. (I've done this with zero feedback traders a couple of times...agree before accepting the trade.) Both parties assume the same risk and that's why there is feedback to show a proven/successful track record of prior trades.
As far as the damaged cards go...if your trade partner properly packaged the cards and it's obvious that the PO damaged them along the way then that's really not on your trade partner...they did their part and again that's the risk you have with trading. This happens every once in a while, and honestly, I don't follow up with the trade partner as is not their fault.
I hope the feedback from the members here will help you out!

I also agree 💯 you should mail out your end of the bargain and then work on something to perhaps work it out if possible. It looks bad on you.

Now I am dyslexic so I might read this wrong. But I understand from this post that the post office damaged the cards so how does that reflect on the shipper it is out of his control once the post office gets it.
2. PWE you agree to assume all risks assiciated with the trade. You may not be happy with the condition it came in but it is the risk you take so send the other trader his cards for he is NOT at fault
3. See if he feels bad about it and he might send you a replacement card ( may not be the same card you wanted but he is trying to make things right)
4. I cant see a negitive or a nuetral on feed back if he/she is not to blame
Thats my feelings on this issue but everyone has different feelings in this matter

How would you feel if you seen this posting and it was you that send the card and it were damaged in the mail and he never contacted you but posted it?
Have you or you going to contact him?
Has he replied and what was his feelings about the issue?
As we have said many times here about trading. Communcation is the key to any trade.

True, but i'm still waiting to receive from 8 people i traded with last year, & sent mine out... so, i dunno if i send out right away or wait until i receive anything anymore... i don't want to complain, but postage cost me $8 to send 1 card to my cousin, so i can't afford to give my collection away & pay for it

Wow, not that we traded before but I've only traded internationally so far twice and no problems either way.
I wonder if customs 🛃 are being a pain? That's way too long too wait for cards.
I shipped to Canada and it was under $2.25 to ship. I did PWE non machinable. So not sure why it cost so much coming from Canada
How is Hawaii going? Your out of office I noticed says:
"still helping my family & others in poor hawai'i :( " you got my vote for making us proud at TCDB and running to help others

Ok I am going to go point by point here
Unless it was agreed upon during the proposal stage it is understood that both parties send at about the same time, my only exception is a new trader with no feedback then I let them know up front that they have to send first or it is a sale for a high value card I will hold of payment until I see the actual card as condition is subjective.
If the card (s) were damaged in transit then unless the trade partner agrees to send a replacement that is just an inherent risk of trading. If the trade involves higher value cards both parties should agree to send bubble mailer not PWE (usually same for thicker or memorabilia cards)
Your best recourse is to contact the trader and see how they want to deal with it but unless they specifically tell you to keep your cards you should send your part of the trade along. I have been on both ends of damaged cards due to USPS actions and usually I write it off if I am the one receiving damaged card or if possible try to make good if the shoe is on the other foot. We all assume the risk when trading PWE's and sadly that is a risk we can't avoid

It's expensive to ship from Canada to the USA.
As soon as I ship more than 1 card it is no longer a pwe and costs 8$ with tracking.
Every 40 card shipment basically is a break-even,
Where we save a few $ and pay some bills is when we ship bigger quantities of 80 cards and up as the price doesn't increase much.
And Canada Post has become even stricter if i go through a postal outlet they are feeling my pwe's as they are cracking down on any merch in mail, so i avoid and just buy stamps separately and drop em into a mailbox.
