I am one who has approved and denied pricing on here before when I have time. Guidlines are clear on the site. One gray area is when I open eBay and it opens to a different countries currency. I typically leave them alone. I do wish that we had a way to add what currency we are submitting the price in.
Also replying to the thread at large pricing is a great start if determining your "Higher"value cards. There are some higher value cards I didn't know I had and there are some that were not higher value and I uploaded recent sales to reflect that on the site. much like smokey the bear. Only you can improve the pricing feature on this site.

Ditto to Kidd's reply! Pricing here is useless and always has been, so there is no reason to get upset about it for any reason. I still don't know why people waste their time trying to report prices that will change next week or next month.

Yeah the only time I input pricing is when there is none and I want a value on my cards. The pricing just feels like a rough guide. I price based on "Sold" on eBay and then supplement that with Sportlots & COMC. Sometimes there is still a surprising gap on prices from online, LCS and card shows.
Nothing to get too upset about. It's a free site with amazing features, trading & a database. I always shake my head when people get mad that the free thing isn't perfect.

It's free for you to choose to use it or not. Many of us do for our own reasons so just leave it alone.

I had made a mistake linking an incorrect price from an ebay auction for a different version for a card once and it seemed like my permission to add prices was taken away for a few days. It was an honest mistake on my part so I just assumed it was a feature of the site to make sure someone isn't intentionally screwing with the prices.
And regarding pricing, it has all been said here before 100 times over. Pricing isn't perfect. It's not 100% accurate and in some cases it is completely off. That said, it's still helpful as a guideline. When it comes to non sports, there are some cards that I know nothing about but have because of my kids. I'll look them up on ebay and enter in prices so when I make or get trades I have some idea if they are close to what the cards are actually selling for. I don't want to insult someone by offering a 10 cent card and ask for a $50 card in return. If it's a $1 vs a $3 actual value... I can live with that margin of error.
Any way, the "value" is only what someone is willing to pay for it anyway so you can claim something is worth $100 but if you can't actually sell it for $100, and best offer you get is $1, it's worth is actually $1 regardless of what any book's list it at.

You've only been here for a year, so you have no idea what this site was before then. There used to be the option to add "book value" in the pricing section and many of those prices still remain. However, when Beckett Media started buying up or suing anyone they thought was using their "proprietary information", Admin smartly removed the book value option leaving only retail or auction. Ignoring the card pricing/value portion of this site, everything else has improved tremendously since I joined the site nearly 8 years ago. It is all because of the members that contribute info and Admin making changes to the site to accommodate suggestions from members. When I first started here, you couldn't match your wants to someone else's lists of any kind. All trades were done with text lists, no clicking of checkboxes to add cards to the trade. Trading here was more than a hassle to even start an offer, much less get to the shipping stage. Adding cards to your collection (whether personal, traders or wants) was a very tedious process. Adding duplicate cards was even more of a hassle.
I'm not bashing you or trying to anger you in any way, just telling you what the site was like long before you joined. You should be very happy with the site as it is today. If you were a member just a couple of years ago, you would see how much progress has been made with this site in every way. Pricing is the one section that is still lacking, but it's also the least necessary. This is a database, not a price guide. Anyone can do a quick search on ebay, COMC, sportslots, etc. to come up with "values" of cards. That is not what this site is about though. It is only about cataloguing as many cards as possible and allowing collectors to communicate with each other in various ways (Forums, PM, trades, etc.). I don't know why Corky is doing what he's doing or why you are so ticked off about it, but you shouldn't take out your frustrations in a forum thread. PM him or PM Admin.

TOTALLY NAILED IT, in last Reply! As a TCDB Member (willing to invest $$$ each and every month), this Trading Card Online Community has evolved wonderfully well, over the 8+ Years that I have been a part of this Community. Pricing is important to me, as I am married (32+ years) to a very gifted Accountant and showing her real numbers and replacement value means a whole lot to the both of Us. Although realistically, if I had to sell my over 80,000 cards, it would be below the half price listed for collection (Bulk Buying Discount). May Each of You have a totally awesome Weekend and KEEP Enjoying Our amazing Hobby!!
Yours in Trading Card Collecting Affinity - Felix
