I've only tried to add a few prices over the last 7 years. The last one I tried I included the link to the eBay sale where i bought it. It was rejected. Have no idea why. Don't care really. Pricing is a function on this site that I guess makes sense from a hobby perspective, but it's also pretty useless in the greater scheme of things due to the nature of the hobby in this day and age.
The TCDB has its problems, but the good far outweighs the bad in my opinion. If it's the pricing system that is the thing that turns somebody off the site, I'm not sure this site is really the place for them anyway.

I feel the same. way. I have contributed in the past as far as prices go. Only to have them deleted. I use the site to keep track of what I paid for cards so when I open a store when I retire. (hopefully within 5yrs) I know what I paid. Use the site for what it is, it can be fun. This is actually the first response I have ever made. Getting to old to keep quiet now I guess . Cheers to all

That is just the thing. I have hundreds of price submittals on TCDB, all of them are linked to the purchase I made on Ebay. I think Ebay has been deleting purchase history for some of these cards so they can maintain less storage space. One guy comes along and doesnt think I paid $5 or whatever for this Bregman card (I did and it was linked, Ebay deleted page) and I lose my instant price approval priveledges. It is totally unfair, and I get it...the card was a steal and I bought it at a time when Bregman was coming back from injury and not playing well.

Bluerefractor, I feel for you. I really do. I wonder if more than a few of us have been through something similar.

I love this site, and the people who trade, post on forums and help with the management of it. This is an absolutely wonderful community, and it has enriched my card-collecting experience tremendously.

I love scanning cards that are needed for the site. I love cheering people who post about finishing a set. I love posting a question or anecdote in the forum and seeing others post their own anecdotes in response. I love getting a trade offer that not only helps me with my collection but allows me the satisfaction of knowing I'm helping someone else, too. I promise I'll try to be here through thick and thin. But, an incident with pricing have made me unwilling to participate in that part of the site any longer.

I imagine that, if one disagrees with something, one can send a note to Admin and try to explain their case and get the price reinstated if so desired. I agree with you in that if a price has already been submitted and approved, then it shouldn't be contested by someone random if proper proof was given at the time of the original submission. This situation makes it very difficult for a price re-reviewer to declare if a price is valid or not when Ebay has removed the link of proof, so the re-reviewer could really go either way. 

It seems that removing prices shouldn't be allowed unless it's by the submitter him/herself or Admin. 

It isn't the site's fault. 
I don't understand how this member Corky you speak of can just remove a price because they think it isn't accurate even though you bought it off of eBay. What's even crazier is that admin removed it.

Exactly. Price changes. I quit using pricing a while back on this site. I used to think if they were all inflated I could use it and it would all work out. Book Price was always double at a Card Shop so why not just update yearly based on that. I think trying to price Cards on this site would be like pricing a house.

To be clear, none of the approvers have the ability to disable anyone's pricing permissions, especially if they had automatic enabled. Only Admin can do that. Automatic pricing wouldn't go through the approval queue if that's where it was supposedly rejected by Corky, so something isn't adding up here. Also note the system keeps track of how many submissions are accepted or rejected for a user, so approvers can easily see if a user submitting prices is 100/100, or 80/100, or 0/100. If the system changes permissions based on the green/yellow/red status of a user, that's something Admin put in and none of the L7s, L8s, etc. have any effect on that.

I gave up on trying to submit prices ages ago. I'm in Canada, so if I submit a link to ebay, it is to the .ca version, with Canadian dollars. Can't do that. Convert using that day's exchange? Can't do that, doesn't match. Manage to find the .com listing for the same item? Can't do that because it is a closed listing. The reasons my submissions were rejected just seemed more and more random. 

I use "values" on the site as a very rough estimate, knowing that my trade partners see the same numbers I do. Most of what I trade for are base cards and junk wax anyways. I feel sorry for anyone trying to negotiate valuable cards.

Ed, it's happened to me. Six months after a price had been approved and settled, somebody disputed it. It didn't even affect the median price that's listed for a card. After six months, documentation was gone, so the submission was rejected. My instant pricing approval was gone, too. I can still delete prices that I submitted, so that is my only involvement in pricing with the site: going through and deleting any price I ever submitted here.
