What's the worst you've been burned on an eBay purchased? I recently paid for a 900+ card Phillies lot that was mainly 80s and 90s stuff. I figured there would be a few dupes in the lot and that there would be some dupes with what I already have but I was wildly underestimating, I guess.
The package just came and included 46 copies of the Pat Combs 1990 Topps card, 81 copies of the Jason Grimsley 1990 Topps card and at least five of every card in those early UD sets. Requested a return but I doubt I'll get it.

Mass multiple team lots have never been kind to me.

Oof! That's brutal.
The worst that's ever happened to me is buying a 2018 Bregman refractor for like $4 and not realizing until after a month or so that it wasn't ever sent. I had a lot of orders for Bregman cards on eBay and that one just slipped through. By the time I recognized what happened, the time to request a refund had passed. I was disappointed but it was only $4.

My biggest burns have been self inflicted....
me not figuring out shipping correctly on my sales. And not realizing until after a bid has come through. Lost 75 cents on a playboy anniversary issue.... among other losses on my part.

I got lucky when I first started building Topps bb sets around 1995. I won an auction for about 15,000 commons from the mid 70's to the mid 80's. All for about $275.00 shipping included.

As a seller (non sports card related)..too many stories to tell..people claiming game CD's werent in the cases, working electronics not working once received, etc. I quickly learned the buyer will win almost every case so I stopped selling on eBay. Will use other methods or donate items..
As a buyer, recently won a hockey card auction for $20 bucks plus Large priority shipping..Pictures showed easily $500+ worth of insert cards, etc. if not more. Seller didn't tape up the box well enough and the box was crushed by the post office (or in transit) and all cards lost. Currently waiting for the claim to get approved but those were some nice cards that ended up somewhere, probably in a trash bin..

I don't think I've ever received a "complete" set that was listed as one, even after asking the seller to confirm every card is actually included. Many times they promise to follow up with the missing cards but never do, and one time the seller asked me to pay for the PWE to ship the 2 cards he forgot to include!
Early 2000s, I ordered a box of UD basketball that was never received
Also numerous slow shipments and never receiveds

That's a lot of Pat Combs cards. And I collect him. (No, I don't need that one.)

I guess my worst is a couple different instances of bricked box sets. Neither was expensive. One was salvageable. The other went in the trash. Both were sealed, so the owner couldn't have known.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

Worst that's happened with me, and this has happened several times over the years, I win something, and they can't find it, or they cancel the listing. I guess they really didn't want to sell the items that low. (They would have been good deals). A recent one, she couldn't find 1 of the 2 cards. She took a bath on it because she refunded me for the one and the full shipping because that was close to the price I could get a replacement on sportlots. And she still sent the other card (a very thick one) in a bubble mailer (very well-protected). I thought she'd opt for a cheaper route. At least I finally got both cards, just not from her.
