I'm getting close to finishing up some sets but am running into issues with either TCDB people not having the card I need or non-responsive to trade requests or emails..
That being said, what other avenues are there (besides eBay) to finish off sets? Some of the cards I need are common while others are more "high" dollar cards...
Thanks!
Bill

sportlots.com is a great place to pick up singles for cheap, although I haven't used it a ton.
COMC.com is also a good avenue for buying singles.
I've also heard good things about Card Barrel but don't think I've ever used it myself.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

And though I dread to say this, Beckett Marketplace also. Yes, for the most part it is worthless, at least to me. However, there have been a few times where I have found a deal that beats the 3 Jason mentioned. I usually do just use those 3 though, especially SportLots. Just make sure to account for shipping on SportLots, many are free after a certain level, others will try to take you for a ride even when their card prices look good ($4 for a single .18 cent card). Card Barrel does free shipping after $20, but sometimes their prices aren't as good as SportLots.

Tired and trembling I am descending, will I have to stay here and live this life again?

What sets are you looking to finish up? I'll check your wants and prioritize adding those next if I have any you're looking for.

Depending on the high dollar cards you may be better off with Beckett Marketplace if you find a dealer who'll give you free shipping if you pass their threshhold. There are a few vendors that'll give free shipping for as little as $15-$25. I take advantage of that often. That's the only way I shop there. When I use Sportlots I tend to compare sellers' overall price including shipping because they have only a few that offer free shipping, and some offer really good shipping based on the number of cards you get. But remember anything less that the beginning package rate will be sent in PWE. I've never had a problem with the card be destroyed as everyone I've received from in PWE from Sportlots has protected the card in a top loader at least.

~Rob~ Hockey set collector including inserts, ERR, COR, VAR. Knowledgeable about 1968-69 to 1994-95 hockey. All 1990 and newer cards for trade are NRMT. Expect the same in return. 1989 and older are assigned a grade. Everything on my trade list is available for sale. Reasonable prices based on condition. If it's not on my tradelist, it's not available.

Just want to mention that cardbarrel mentioned today they are raising their free shipping minimum to 25 dollars on February 1st due to the postage rate increases. I still think its a good deal, but I've only ordered from him once since the switch from justcommons.

I hadn't read that Jupiter. Then again, I didnt know about the postage increase until yesterday. I do like Cardbarrel a lot though. I have no problem doing a $25 order instead of $20 for the free shipping. I do an order once or twice a year.
-------------------------------
I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

If you are in the greater Detroit area, there is a show Feb. 10 in the NEW on Schoolcraft road. There is a good dealer who does older common singles. I finished a lot of my 70s and 80s sets through him.
