“ Some of these Stars and Stripes and EEE "hits" are getting out of hand. I pulled an auto from a 14 year old in a box. That "one hit per box" sure makes you feel warm and cozy until you pull a child's diaper relic. ” -pjdionne12

“ Hmm 3 things I don't like about this card: 1. Its a jersey relic at least it isn't gray or white. 2. It is the Team USA 3. Panini Donruss Elite Extra Edition Bonus rant: It isn't serial numbered. I think that all relics and on card autos should be serial numbered. ” -captkirk42

This card is absolute crap, unless the player ends up being a HOFer in 30-40 years. The design is horrible and the topic is just as bad. I don't like a single thing about this card. The picture is very bad, the background makes the picture look worse, then the same horrible picture is on the back of the card. If I was Thomas Burbank, I'd hate this card too just for the horrible photo!!!

Still amazes me how people who collect can be so damn picky. I'm so tired of crybabies about cards.....you dont like the USA card there KaptKirk24?  Well, dont look at it.  And "I'm hiflew" doesn't like a 'kid relic' of a person who made the Olympics and is now in college trying to make it and get an Ed?  A diaper relic....what did you do in your diaper besides crap it?  What have you all done in the last 8-9 years?  Did you or your kid make the Olympics or do anything with accolades like this? Besides cry about card design, really?  Sheesh.  Judgmental and unkowledgable is what these posts become instead of objective and kind and fair with a bit of opinion.  No, no, we have to insult someone or something in addition to the card. " He's my son and he is awesome so what if the card sucks or isn't your thing. " ....I can hear mommy say

I could go on and on but I can see it would land on def ears.  Hazah!

Card design is decent although I tend to like patches that have a part of the design or a stitch or patch piece in it. This one is plain but placed on the card correctly.  Yes it's horizontal but that's part of cards and always has been since I have collected cards, because I'm excepting of change and of design and evolution.  Lol  Oh, and they shut out China with his arm....NICE! (Comment not meant as an insult, just sports enthusiasm)

I also don't understand why the same cronies on this site get their posts put up on the markee every single day

On the homepage of the site, under "Show More Comments", there is a link for "Upcoming >". That will allow you see the Random Card of the Day for one week out, and any comment you make on it today will appear on the homepage when the card is featured.

Also, just a quick note regarding USA Baseball, meant for educational purposes, not to detract from any comments anywhere along the line. Burbank played for the 15U National Team, not the Olympic team. USA Baseball sponsors several different levels of national teams, but only the "Professional Team" plays in the Olympics. You can read more about the various teams on the USA Baseball website under the "Team USA" tab. And that isn't to say that making the 15U national team isn't a big deal, because it most certainly is. Burbank also didn't play for any slouch of a junior college either - San Jacinto is one of the best in the country.

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.

@CardSlave - If you click the "Upcoming" link, you can add your comments before the card actually is posted on the site (they seem to be a week in advance), then those comments are displayed when the card is posted.

It has gotten to the point where I don't even need to read who wrote what, I know it from what is written, and is one of the reasons I don't really comment on too many (I tend to stick to "my team", cards I own, or Star Company cards - for a rather specific reason). I am curious as to what makes a card good (for these people). The 90s inserts get bashed because they don't have stats, or alternate products get bashed because they don't have full stats (when the flagship products usually did). Relics get bashed because it was either too important to include or too insignificant to include. Chrome cards because they are too shiny, foil because it's hard to read. And others get bashed simply because they are "difficult to scan well". surprise

Some of the members here are or were athletes, but for those of us who weren't (like myself, because Little League doesn't count - unless you ent to Williamsport), we should recognize that 99% of the people that appear on sports cards were elite in their sport, including these 18U, 16U, etc. cards.

At the same time, there are some really bad designs in cards. This one, other than the re-use of the photo on front and back, isn't too bad. It will be interesting to see if he can get things together in college and have a professional career in baseball.

Do you know what is even more repetitive than doubling up photos??? Commenting on it every time it happens. We want creativity from card companies but not from ourselves.

First card I have seen with "0" in collection totals. I wonder where the picture would have come from then? I suppose there are reasons it would now be gone from a collection.

Definitely one of the things that bothers me about collecting. The hobby has gotten so geared toward prospects and "the next big thing" that a great deal of what has come out the last 10 years has been Bowman and Elite and other prospect/pre-rookie sets. It seems like they're getting away from celebrating the players that are in the majors and instead focusing on the people who may one day get there. At least 30 years ago there were 4-5 800 card sets so every bench guy and back-of-the-bullpen LOOGY got at least a couple of cards. Now most pitchers that aren't starters or closers get a rookie card and then they're forgotten, while I have 15 cards of some guy that never even made the show. It bothers me sometimes.

Good design for the front, just not the right set to use it for.

They are also concentrating on short prints, and super short prints, gone way overboard on the number of variants and parallel sets.

It used to be you could look at a card and right away know which set the thing came from. Now-days it is a guessing game. Sometimes the only difference in a variant is the color of the foil used for the player name and the brand logo. It is maddening. OH and then the variant demands a value starting in the triple digits. Seriously?
