Trivia |
- Card #223a of Sam Vincent features Michael Jordan in the foreground wearing a #12 jersey. This photograph was taken on February 14, 1990 in a game in Orlando. Michael Jordan's #23 jersey was stolen before the game, so he wore #12.
- The 1990 All-Rookie Team card featuring David Robinson on the front accepting his "Minute Maid Orange Soda NBA Rookie of the Year" trophy with the other four members of the All-Rookie Team on the back (Vlade Divac, Tim Hardaway, Pooh Richardson, and Sherman Douglas) was available through a mail-in offer on the packs. The offer expiration date was July 30, 1991.
- One print ad featured a single pack against a white background and the tagline, "Leader of the packs.", along with a row of seven sample cards along the bottom and a tease for Series II in the upper left.
- Set features the rookie card of 3 Hall of Fame players including Gary Payton.
- Card #205 of Mark Jackson includes the Menendez brothers in the background, sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden. The brothers would later go on to be convicted of murdering their parents.
- #80 John Williams - UER: Born on "Aug. 9, 1961", should be "Aug. 9, 1962"
- #128 Larry Smith - Look closely and you can actor Jack Nicholson in the front row to the right of the image of Larry.
- #205 Mark Jackson - Lyle and Erik Menendez are in the background, prior to arrest and after murdering their parents. The courtside seats were part of their spending spree.
- #223 Sam Vincent - Michael Jordan famously wore the number 12 jersey for a single game on February 14, 1990, after his iconic number 23 jersey was stolen before a game against the Orlando Magic. Without a backup 23 jersey available, Jordan donned a generic number 12 jersey with no name on the back. Despite the unusual circumstances, he scored 49 points in the game, though the Bulls ultimately lost.
This unique moment was captured in the 1990-91 Hoops basketball card series, featuring Jordan in the number 12 jersey. The card became a collector's item due to its rarity and the story behind it. However, rumors suggest that Jordan was unhappy with the initial card's design or portrayal, leading to a reissue in Series 2 of the 1990-91 Hoops set. - #287 Mark Eaton - UER: Bio lists Eaton as drafted with the #82 pick, should be #72
