The person that marked super-high prices in this set took that "last-5" info and ran with it (long before this thread was posted). Every single card I saw that already had a legitimate price or value was posted 5 times with the same price to bump the median up to his price. I deleted all of his prices JUST for the Ozzie Smith card and put in my own price that happened to exactly match the only other previously listed price.

Another thing that hasn't been mentioned in this thread: A few years ago, there was a third option for adding prices and that was "Book Value". After Beckett started suing everyone using anything slightly related to their "proprietary market info", TCDB removed the Book Value option. Many prices before that change still exist here.

I'm just glad that I've collected for so long that I can mostly guess correctly at the true value of any given card (except very recent and very, very old cards). I know the ballpark very well and I can tell if a trade offer is way out of the park or pretty evenly matched, without searching for extra info. If I have a question about a trade being even, then I'll search for extra info. I've never considered the prices listed on this site as being accurate only b/c too many people have access to altering them.

Maybe he just doesn't understand decimals.....

Unfortunately, that can't be the case as the member was adding prices like $5.75 multiple times in a row. They couldn't have possibly meant 57.5 cents and listed it 5 times in a row.

I have to chuckle at a lot of the pricing put in for new football. It's like wow, for every $5 pack I'm guaranteed at least $50 in cards. Why aren't more people buying this stuff up?

when it comes to posted prices  for card price I use what I see or pay but if 1 card is  $2   and 10 are $4  and another one is 10   I would enter 1 price of $4

I do enter  what auction price I paid  as long as it was to high above what I seen.  

As for a personal collection  I go to card the card edit page and enter what I paid  for the card   I do not do this faithfully  but it is to help to clear aout my estate  so others know  what  the card (set)  might be worth   with base cards worth a lot less.  

Beckett's "proprietary market info" is absolutely no different than some keyboard warrior here marking his '88 Topps Cansecos $5. They're both completely made the eff up so while many prices listed on this site might seem crazy or inaccurate they're as valid as anything Beckett prints! Yay us!

I actually think ours could be much better if used properly and with proper controls. Our "survey" consists of actual sales prices while their "survey" is/was at one time at least, based on asking prices of LCS and dealers at card shows. Ours is far from perfect, too many cooks in the kitchen, and no grandma in the kitched with a rolling pin to swat those who misbehave.

As I have said many times, the only time I enter a price is when I sell a card, I enter the amount that I have recieved.

Most of us take the pricing here with a grain of salt.  We look at it and if it looks odd we check out COMC, EBay or Beckett.

Like Randy stated it can be better.  How is is done is another issue.   Adding more controls can be a problem just like the active members issue.   Way to much work for ADIM for what is asked.  I have a few ideals but no need to list them.

Value vs price:    is not always the same in every ones eyes.
