@ rayfromtexas
seems we agree on a few cards for grading :D
i have the draft day set (3 cards not 4.. not the now 'Insert' george) graded psa 10's *high five*
I have a huge master set as well.. still missing the uber rare steve young, thomas lucite, and the pro bowl 'pigskin' binder. have a line on the owners edition 'pigskin' set (series 1 and 2 with lombardi), but no way close to a deal yet.. :(

Just found this. I agree with Ray and many others. What is the point of having any common card slabbed even from the 60s. People like tossing money away I guess. Must cost more to have these commons graded then what they are worth.

the only Pro Set cards possibly getting graded are those rare error-type cards... but one thing i have noticed, those cards are easily dinged...definitely too many of the regular cards to bother with grading, but to each their own... i only actually own one graded card to this point, and i got in in a 'lot' of cards off of Ebay...(for the record, its a 10 Sosa 1990 Fleer - bought it when i actually was big into Sosa cards)

"Rare" is one of the most overused and misused key words on Ebay.
Also the word "New" is very misleading which is why sometimes you will see "new old stock" for older items never used but still in package.

I formed my opinion of graded cards early on, when I was at the National one year, and a dealer had a Topps insert of Mark Grace, book value < $1.00, graded at either a 4 or 5, and selling it for $9.00 just because it was graded. I know this is an extreme example, but it showed me the foolishness of much of the grading that was going on then. Turned me against it right off, and I have never had a card graded.
Regarding Pro Set, my favorite card was always the Mr. Rogers card from Pro Set Platinum hockey.

I'm going to reevaluate how I collect after the new year. It's just getting way too expensive for the new stuff. Sometimes I just want to buy a pack, not a whole box or even blaster.

I love the "low pop" too. Yeah, it's a true 1 0f 1 because nobody else is silly enough to grade a Proset card.

I actually started collecting Pro Set hockey when they came out to add to my football sets, even though I wasn't a hockey 'fan'. I have long since gotten rid of them but I may just pick up the celebrity captain cards because they are different. i also collected the holograms since they were numbered. just picked up a number 72!
