Now it's time to research the rest of the cards and see if all of them are like this.

I can tell you that all cards from a wax box have the same INC or INC. I bought 2 boxes to get one of those gold variations ( can't remember which) b/c I noticed the cards had the desired print mark. My understanding is that factory sets were printed at one location and only the retail pack cards have the variations. I've looked for the tread I originally researched years ago but can't find it now. The guy explaining the location stuff was supposedly an old employee from leaf/donruss. I vaguely remember him saying that leaf was their premium product and was primarily printed at the main location. 90 and 91 may not have any variation, but it appears 92 does.

Hmmm, I wonder if it would be quicker to go through all the cards with a fine point sharpie and make them all "inc." with a period.

I haved decided that I am in denial that these exist. I dont care for most of these Donruss and or Leaf sets anyway. I have a factory set and I'm not going to look. I have a lot of these cards that are loose in a box and will probably unload them when I next do a flea market or garage sale.

IMHO, the point is not everybody collects the same things. Some are collecting this or that sport, this or that player or this or that team, some are set builders, some are collect all variations, some not all of them and some other not a single one. Dan and co. have spend tons of efforts to check cards and find variations. It is nice to see members investing time and effort to make this site always better. We're all passionated by our common hobby. The issue is to make everything easier for all of us whatever we collect. One can search by set, player, team, but the site needs a tune-up to handle better the variations (whatever we like them or not). It is justified to list the variations in the database, what we really need is a better way to handle them no matter our opinion (they exist and are catalogued, but have we choose to collect them or not). At this time, using the site is correct if one search for varaitions, but it is a bit more complicated if the variations are listed, but that person wants all the possible matches with having to deal with all those variations. It is about catering to both groups.

OK, folks, the glutton (for punishment) is ready to tackle this next beast. Looking into it a little, I noticed one thing that no one else has bothered to mention:
The Info card and checklists have no copyright info, so they cannot be affected by this.
Now, before I start on this, anyone know of any other cards in this set that would not be affected by the INC./INC difference?

Seeing things like this makes me hate Donruss that much more.
It's almost like the site needs a different way to distinguish major and minor variations. This being a minor and something where the player's picture is wrong or changed would be a major. I enjoy collecting the cards with major differences between versions, but a dot vs no dot just anoys me.

I too felt that way. Then near the end of the '89 Donruss I jumped in to help verify some the last 100 or so cards, Did quite a bit on the '90 (no where near the work Dan did though) and decided to complete those 2 sets. I understand it is not for everyone but it can be appealing to some to collect without breaking the bank. Overall it opens up the possibility of trade potential for everyone who is willing to differentiate the variations which I think is good for the site in general.
Just my 2 cents (I know most think these cards are worth less than the 2 cents)

Sorry, but who's the judge on what's minor or major? If the period was smack dab in the middle of the player's name on the front, would that be major now? How could it? It's ONLY a period.
This would lead to way too much confusion on what counts and what doesn't for major and minor. *I* certainly am not getting involved in that. It's bad enough discerning a lot of these as to whether it was a plate change (set up change) or not.
And here I thought when I saw the thread had new activity it was going to be something that helped with this set. [sigh] Nope, just another gripe about it. Yay!
