If you have a Bob Gibson player collection, would you include the two cards above in your collection?  Were you aware of these cards existing with Gibson in the headlines on the back of the card?  These are not linked to Bob Gibson because he is not featured on the front of the card.

That’s a good question Bruno. For the Cardinals team card I for sure would not. And most probably would not on the Robertson card as I tend to consider the player pictured on the front. I can see it being linked though...

Bruno - both of these scenarios have already been discussed with Admin. The 1972 cards with the comics on thw back was an actual example I brought to his attention.

• Card backs are not to get links.
• Team photos can be linked to the players that can be POSITIVELY identified as being on that card, and only those who can be positively identified on the card.

Not asking that they be linked but asking collectors if they would include them in their PC.  I include them in my Gibson collection but I definitely don't include the TC in it.

It is a question of collecting preferences, not requesting a change in how the database does things.  I thought such discussions were allowed and even encouraged, not discouraged.  I will go back in my own world of collecting now and refrain from engaging in discussions.

Bruno, I misunderstood your intention. I thought you were attempting to get the links added to the cards with the stories of different players on the back (which seems like a reasonable thing, no?) and/or getting the questionable links on a card where faces and/or numbers can barely be seen, let alone discerned, removed. Both of which seemed like valid points. I was simply stating what current TCDB policy is.

I have not added them to my "HOFer base set wants" because I didn't see them when I was creating my want lists. Had they been linked, they would certainly go on it, and be welcomed into the Bob Gibson collection (as would any others featured if they fit my collections). I welcome the discussion, and I hope it brings to light something that needs to be changed here.

Now, I don't think a card that merely mentions a different player on the back shpuld be linked. These 1972 cards do not seem to be "normal" cards. They almost feel like a double-sided card. Please, discuss.

I know it's been discussed, but disagree with Admin's decision.  The 1972s are just like double-sided cards; a player on each side. 

Mark,  I actually think many of the Gibson collectors are not aware of these cards.  I asked the question only because I am just going through my PC and came across it though it is not linked to Gibson.  I only noticed the TC being linked because I filtered to 1972.

I have the OPC one in my PC; if anyone wants to trade me a 1972 Topps #430 Bob Robertson IA for any 1972 Topps (or OPC) common, happy to do so.

There are actually several cards that I put in my PC for certain players whether they are linked or not to the player in particular. But I don't include the TC other than if the manager is pictured on the front.

As a Cardinals collector, which naturally makes me a Gibson collector, I was unaware of these.  I'll have to look for a couple next trip to the LCS.  And I'm with you on the team photos too, Bruno.  When i sorted by player, i only put them with the manager if he was named on the front.  Never with any of the players.  But like you, i dont care one way or another how they are linked on the site.
