I'm sure many here have come across issues with eBay's relatively new automatic payment feature. The biggest issue I see is that when you want to make an offer for multiple items from the same seller to take advantage of combined shipping, you essentially can't. Your only real recourse is to ask the seller to give you a partial refund. I chatted with eBay support this morning, and from their perspective the only ways around automatic payments are on the seller's end. Seller's can either disable the feature or add specific users to an exempt list. Wondering if anyone has found any other ways around this?
Also, as a buyer, I alerted a seller to this yesterday, they insisted they could work around it through invoicing. I got offers accepted on 5 cards this morning and, shocker, but I was charged shipping on each one. I've asked the seller to give me a shipping refund. I probably have no other recourse, but I think I'd be within my right to deliver negative feedback if they don't right?

You’d absolutely be in the right to leave that feedback if you don’t receive a refund. Sounds like the seller is likely to come through however but that is less than ideal for sure.

As a buyer this has been frustrating for me as well. I have found that many seller are simply not aware of the change and are unfamiliar with how to edit/update their account.
As a seller (I don't sell cards, but sell products for the company I work for) I actually have kept this policy intact as it has cut down on the number of orders that eventually get cancelled due to non-payment. Of course from our business stand point we don't sell products that people are typically buying multiple of so combined shipping is not an issue for us/them.

As a seller, I really like this new feature as I can't tell you the number of times Someone has agreed to purchase something and then never paid. As a buyer, I reach out to the seller before hand to make sure that if it goes through I will receive a partial refund. Seems to be working out well for me so far.

Had a seller tell me today he had no idea this was a thing, and had no idea how to change it (until I showed him). eBay really needs to be better job rolling out their changes and making people aware.

Exactly, as a seller I'm sure it was a buried headline in one of the several bulletins I receive every month, but it certainly wasn't a widely circulated notification.

As an ebay seller I do not require immediate payment because I WANT people to buy more than one item. Buyers have 4 days to pay before ebay cancels the the sale. Also, unless it has changed in the last few minutes, buyers also have 4 days to pay if they make an offer and I accept it. On occasion I have buyers that pay ahead for multiple items and I always combine the shipping and give them a refund before I purchase the shipping label. It sounds like the person that has not refunded the original poster is just being lazy as a seller.

Actually we can blame the seller for this or that but really it is ebay's platform and ebay fault and problem

As a seller it doesn't effect me too much since I offer free shipping on all items under $20, but as a buyer it is super frustrating for combined shipping but also to be able to use my built-up balance from selling. I've found a workaround, but I'm keeping it to myself for now.

I just went into accounts >> payment information and turned off the automatic payment option.
Seemed to do the trick for me as a buyer.
