You may be right Im sorrry But If you are on a farewell tour ? no no dont do that .Jacob de Grom and Max Scherzer are not on a tour. If the Mets win its because of what they did . That is what is called greatness not racking up niumbers.

I think that the Cardinals he speaks of are still qualified as great, even if they are on the end of their careers. I don't think you have to be good at the end of your career to still be called great. What these players did are better than most people could ever do. BUT, I don't see Wainwright getting in 1st ballot. Pujols no doubt is a 1st ballot. Molina is going get in, but I don't think 1st for him. Those 3 are playing together for one last time and having fun while doing it, weather they make it to the playoffs or not. Scherzer and DeGrom are probably going to dominate when they return, as they are still good, and know that postseason odds are good for them. I would like to see Mauer get in. I think he is worthy. He won't get it first ballot, but he is worthy.

Yet deGrom hasn't pitched yet this year and timetable for return is never trustable. And when he returns, for how long? It is the Mets after all... Not even sure why he is brought up here.
Cano ruined any shot he had at 3K. If he hadn't had the suspensions he'd be staring at it. What he's doing now for the Padres is just veteran leadership, not actually producing any numbers. Once Tatis returns he'll lose playing time.
As for Cruz, looks like Father Time caught up to him. It could be a slow start and taking a little longer to get going considering his age. If he turns it on as the weather heats up we'll see. But with age and the nastiness of pitchers nowadays it'll be very difficult.

As a Nats fan there has been an uptick in Batting Average the last week or so...whether that translates into Homeruns...? I think he is on a two year contract so he would still likely need 30 this year (pipe dream) and 20 next to make it.

I'm mostly organizing over adding right now.

Presently at 189 career wins so maybe 200 if he has a great year, I doubt if Wainwright gets into Cooperstown. If he does, better open the doors for many other good pitchers that came before him.

Reunion or farewell tour. That sais it all. Max Scherzer is not on a fairwell tour he wants another championship. That is the difference. When you are awsome and can still contibute to a champioship it is different. These guys like Cabrera just want the numbers but greatness cannot be meaured. Max Scherzer is great and those other mentioned are not. Just on a farewell tour ? . Thx

Perhaps he was talking about Cano and Cruz only.
Cruz was 3/5 tonight...two RBI...no homers...

Yeah which I mean, Cano and Cruz aren't in the same discussion as Pujols and Cabrera. That's why I was asking because he said "these guys like Cabrera..." and said they're just chasing numbers rather than being great players. That's why I was trying to confirm if he was saying Miguel Cabrera wasn't a "great"

Given the relatively late start to Cruz's career (didn't play 50 games in a season until age-26 season or 100 until age-28) it's quite remarkable even to be discussing him in relation to such milestones.
