Congrats to Joey Lagono on his 2022 Championship, Had a rocket all day, Sick of seeing everyone on Facebook blame Ross for Chase spinning himself out. But that's ok he deserved to get 4th, Hasn't really shown up all playoffs except for the one race. Bell tried but bad pitstop hurt him and Chastain ran his heart out but just came up a little short. Great race to end the season tho, C'mon 2023

Congrats to Logano for the title. The 2nd title puts him in elite company of drivers to repeat as champs in the top series. Chastain also had a pit issue on the green flag stop before the stop with Bell's issue. Bell's tire changer hurt his finger during the pitstop, causing the delay as they had to take the tire back off to get it free. Can't disagree with Shaw that it did appear that Elliott moved across the nose of Chastain. Yes, Chastain didn't lift but with a title on the line, can't blame him for it either. If 2022 was any indication of what to expect from the "Next Gen" car, then 2023 should be highly entertaining, not to mention the moves taking place with so many drivers changing rides.

I agree 100%. I know they are already looking at different things to improve Safety. And hopefully they figure out the Ford Fire problem. I actually liked the car and it did what they wanted in bringing the whole field together. The biggest problem I saw was with Goodyear and not really the car. But Daytona can't get here soon enough

I hope Phoenix is no longer the championship race after 23.

The least they could do at Phoenix, championship or not, is paint a yellow line and
ban going below it, at least on restarts.....
Like some of those Turn 1s at roadcourses, is only good for causing crashes.....

Sorry for being MIA for the past 2 months guys. Too much stuff going on around the house before it gets cold. I was at the Martinsville race! It was pretty boring for the first 300+ laps. There was plenty of hard racing, but not much passing. I STILL can't believe that Rowdy never wrecked in the 1st stage. He was sliding sideways out of Turn #4 on nearly every lap! The race got way better for the final 200 laps though, at least being there in person. That move by Chastain was insane!!! What a wild finish to that race. If you want to see some of my pictures from the race, check my Flickr Photostream: https://www.flickr.com/photos/153226553@N05/
I also shot this video of one lap (#426/427) with Bell leading the race before the final caution: https://youtu.be/HOgUm7KqFng
It was GREAT to finally get back to the track after missing the October race for the past 2 years. I don't think I could have picked a better race to attend in 2022 than that one. Of course Phoenix was boring. Track inversion and new car didn't change anything about Phoenix. It's always been a pretty boring race with the only excitement being on restarts. I was happy that Miami got removed from being the title race, but Phoenix was not a better choice.
Personally, I'd like to see them have the title race on a track they didn't race earlier in the year (but still not Miami that was just once a year as the title race). What NASCAR really needs to do is build a track specifically for the title race. I know ISM would be down for doing that. Make a track 1.25 to 1.66 miles long with different angles in all four corners. Really challenge the drivers and teams with something that isn't easy to make the car work well in every turn. Pocono and Darlington used to be that type of track until people figured it out. Darlington can still have exciting races, but Pocono has become boring with clear dominance by Toyota and some other specific drivers. I don't think the title needs to be decided at a different track every year, but it does need to be a challenge. They should try Iowa Speedway or something similar in 2024 just to see how that works out. I WOULD like to see the All-Star Race at a different track every year. But they need to drop Texas from that rotation. ASR's at Charlotte were way better than the last 2 at TMS. I really wanted to go to the ASR @ North Wilkesboro in 2023, but they snuck out the ticket sales before I expected them and they sold out in about 8 hours!!! I can't wait for the 2023 season now. It should be just as exciting as 2022 was and with a few new players involved too. I really hope NASCAR dials in on making the cars safer from fires and concussions before the D500 though.
