Today, at Roger's Center, Miguel Cabrera just hit his 500th HR! Nice to see he's making history.

Enjoyable moment to watch today! Here in Florida, We remember Miggy as a youngster, helping the Marlins win The World Series!! Moving on to Detroit, He had plenty of Big Moments with the Tigers. That is pretty cool, especially with my Beloved Wife Suzannah being from Michigan . . .

The guy is a stud. I feel like the hype around his career has been a bit understated given his ability and performance.
Happy to see him hitting a great milestone. I think he's only something like the 28th player to accomplish this feat.

Correct, the 28th player to hit 500. 21st if you remove the known "users". LOL

I live in Florida, too, but I'm in Lakeland, so my Miggy memories are from after he went to the Tigers...and played his spring trainings here.

As a Tigers fan, its a shame they could not get over the top in the 06-17 era. They had great teams, but lacked the bullpen that they needed. That rotation of Verlander, Sherzer, Price, and Porcello was a great one.
In my opinion, Miggy's triple crown in 2012 is one of the most underrated events in recent baseball history. First one in 45 years...few players even close, yet rarely mentioned today.

I agree with you there. As an STL fan, I'm glad they didn't beat the Cardinals in 2006, but they really should have won one at some point after that. I think the beginning of that period was ALL pitching and not enough hitting. As they added hitters, they lost more pitchers. Then they were stuck with facing the other best AL team every year to get to the WS. My very first MLB game that I attended in person was the Tigers in Cleveland. I was rooting for Cleveland since they were (then) the affiliate to my hometown MiLB team, but DET also had my favorite catcher at the time (I-Rod) on their roster. I watched him work out with the starting pitcher in the outfield right in front of me pre-game. Then he hit a 2-run HR in the 8th to give DET a 4-2 lead. They won the game 4-3. BTW, that game was delayed a day by the remnants of Hurricane Katrina blasting through Ohio the night before. I believe Porcello started that game for the Tigers and I knew they were a title contender in the making. The next year, they were in the WS but I couldn't root for them as they faced off against my Cardinals. Those Red Sox, Rangers and Yankees teams after that were just too much for them to get into the WS and the Giants team they faced in the WS was a fantastic team. Detroit teams in any sport just can't seem to pull it all together to get a title for the past few decades.
Don't hate on me for that statement, my local NC teams can't put it together either outside of NCAA titles. The Panthers have lost 2 Super Bowls already with no wins and the Charlotte Hornets can't even get close to an NBA title. We've never had an MLB team here, so I stick with the team I grew up watching because my father was an STL fan.
To end this reply, congrats to Miggy on his 500th HR. It will surely cement his spot in Cooperstown with all the other stats he's accomplished in his career. He'll get in there shortly after he ends his career on the field!
