Thank you, SSGTru! I was going to post only the mlb.com contest about two weeks ago but I had doubts the season would actually start, so I forgot about posting it. I remembered it yesterday and began to post only about the mlb.com contest when it occurred to me to make it a TCDb contest. That's why the contest is a rather spur-of-the-moment last-minute type of thing. If I had more time to think it through, in the first post I would have added, "Edited picks made after the deadline (4:00 pm July 23rd) will be disqualified". Luckily no one has done that. There was an edited post but it was done before the deadline.
One more thing...if any team's Opening Day game is delayed/postponed before being deemed an "official" game due to weather, the card contest duration will be extended until the game(s) is considered "official". From mlb.com:
"As part of MLB’s health and safety protocols for the shortened 2020 season, the rain delay rules are a bit different than they've been in the past, but only for non-official games.
If weather causes a game to be cut short before it is official, it will be continued at a later date from the point of the stoppage...
... But if weather causes a game to be cut short after it is official and the game isn’t tied, the results will stand, as we saw in the Yankees’ 2020 Opening Day win over the Nationals in Washington. New York was leading, 4-1, in the top of the sixth inning at the time of the rain delay. The game was eventually called, giving the Yankees a 4-1 victory."
Hopefully the weather will allow the remaining Opening Day games to be played in their entirety today and then we'll have a card contest winner tonight.
