When the NBA suspended its season after Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19 on March 11, it set off a chain reaction of postponements and cancellations.
What have we missed in the last month?
- 208 NBA games
- 189 NHL games, plus playoff games that were scheduled to begin April 8.
- 193 Major League Baseball games
- 67 NCAA men’s tournament games
- 63 NCAA women’s tournament games
- Five PGA Tour events, plus The Masters, and four LPGA Tour events
- Four ATP events and five WTA events
- Four NASCAR races
Locally for me the last Month and Champion tournament of the USHL was cancelled. And in the Minor League world the Mid-West League would have already started with the first Cedar Rapids Kernels home game to have been played April13.
One has to wonder if or how it would affect our hobby and if any mention in sets will be made of the Cancellation and Postponements related to this world pandemic.

For those of us who collect older players, the hobby should continue with the same fervor despite missing the current sporting events.
I can foresee a reshaping of the sports world if this goes longer than anticipated. And maybe modern products will be affected as a byproduct of that sort of thing. The economics of living will probably affect discretionary income including hobbies and attending sporting events.

You left out 4 NASCAR Xfinity Series races, 3 NASCAR Truck Series races, 2 IndyCar races and 2 Fomula 1 races. Along with who knows how many Monster Jam events and lower-tier NASCAR races. I'm sure there are some NHRA and AMA races to be canceled as well. Also, many of the NCAA basketball Conference tourneys weren't played or completed. The ACC got the first 2 days in, but not the final 10 games. And then there are all the other NCAA sports events that were cancelled. It really sucks to miss that much sports in such a short time. I'll be so glad when SOMETHING comes back!

More importantly to me, and I am sure others with kids, my youngest son's hockey season got cut short just before his championship game, and both of my son's travel baseball (of which I am the head coach on my youngest's team and the 3rd base coach on my oldest's team) are on indefinite hold and possibly missing the entire season.

I was just thinking the same thing on my way home tonight. I pass by 2 high schools and there are usually baseball games at that time on Friday nights. Nothing but silence and darkness at those fields tonight. I especially feel bad for the seniors on those teams that will not get to finish their final season of high school ball (same for the soccer teams, track and field, and cross-county teams).

My son's junior year golf season is in serious jeopardy of being cancelled outright. Really is tough for him especially since he made some drastic improvements over the fall and winter and has been shooting some killer rounds. (A couple under par rounds!) Hopefully, he'll get some competitions in soon and we can start up the college visits again. At least the courses around us had stayed open until 2 days ago.

I agree with Billy, I would be very surprised if there was any baseball at all this year sorry to say, we all need to proceed with caution rather than haste and really be sure this is behind everyone and that will take time. Take this time to enjoy the cards and some games from the past that are awesome right now on mlb network., the basketball channel among others all showing some of the best games ever

Can't say these things are what I have missed since the pandemic began. In fact other than seeing how all of these leagues try to plan how they can recoup some of their losses, sports has not been thought of much. It amazes me how they can think of finding ridiculous ways to do this when the rest of the world is thinking of how to survive the crisis. I just saw a headline that cities are offering to be neutral sites for the NHL playoffs if that is the way they wish to go.
I miss being free to do the things I enjoy, seeing my son in Ottawa instead of having to drop off the stuff I brought him at the door, having my daughter visit whenever she wishes, my son continuing in his career, being with my girlfriend whenever we wish to be and going for walks without the fear of being in contact with others. Simply leading a normal life. I feel for those who expressed that it is their kids lives in sports that are affected.
I am with Billy on the fact that it willbe with us till a vaccine is made. I have been saying this since it started. The Spanish flu was with us for 18 months. Read up on it and see what we may be in for in the long run. And look at the growing numbers each and every day. That initial mortality rate of some 3.5% was a flawed application of statistics. That number (still being calculated in a flawed manner) is now over 6% world wide. The number I am more concerned about is the 20% of those who died when you look at the total of those who died and those who recovered. That 20% is more like the numbers of the Spanish flu. The cases that have not been resolved yet should not be included in the calculation.
Anyone still think this is not a real concern?

Alot of truth said here.
Miss T and our family are bummed out as well. She was on her way to frosh stardom. Named Pitcher of the Week by the GSAA after Myrtle.......then came COVID19. There was initial hope but that dimmed quickly. She now enters her soph year losing a season, but with eligibility still intact, but not the credits, crazy!
We all feel bad for Senior Athletes, lose a season, and must scratch and claw to make the College Team and playing time because of the eligibilty issue. Double Whammy!
Just Pray we all survive the Pandemic to play and spectate again.
