Today marks the occasion of the 75th anniversary of when the Allies landed on 5 beaches in Normandy beginning the march through western Europe and the defeat of the Nazis. Many of our great nations were involved in this really "all or nothing" invasion and I am sure many of us had relatives who were involved.
Today, take the time to remember those who fought on this great day and for the next 11 months to secure our freedom.

I happen to be at the D Day memorial here in Bedford, VA. V.P. Pence is here to give the speech. All the planes that flew that day are doing flyovers, foreign and domestic! Met A few of the actual DDay veterans still alive that made the trip here. God Bless America!!

My father's father did not go ashore on D-DAY but he followed them in sometime after, and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. I often wonder what they must have been thinking that morning. I don't think I have the mental fortitude to have done that, to be honest. The flak scene in HBO's Band of Brothers is memorable...if that was realistic, it must have been terrifying.

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards. I was watching some of the observance from England and it brought tears to my eyes realizing we have almost lost this generation. It will not be long until they are all gone just as the WW1 veterans.

This week spent time at Temple and Austin VA, met some amazing men who were there, one was 102 and he said his commander is 108 and lives in San Antonio and doing well. I thanked them for setting the standard for the rest of us to follow, there the bond of brotherhood in which we shared and the loss of friends who will always be remembered.

Yes We all owe those that made that sacrifice, to all that we have today....
That wasn't FREE.. Like what is pushed today..
It was at all COST for some, and a lot of DEDICATION to defend THEIR Country for all others.
GOD Bless Those that gave us what we have today...

I have the priviledge to work in one of Canada's largest Veterans residences. Over the past couple of days I've had the opportunity to chat with those who want to about D-Day. One was part of the first wave of Canadians to land at Juno Beach. He mentioned his landing party taking out three German machine guns, making the beach safer for those coming behind them. He was credited with "getting rid of 22 SS soldiers" (his words).
Thank you to all the Allied Veterans.
