Card Identification Forum

OK, I can "identify" this in some regard. Here's the backstory.

My dad obtained this in 1989 when I started watching Redskins/WFT/Commanders games, he got it out of a ad in Sports Collector's Digest where Roy Jefferson offered to send out a signed card for a $5 donation. As for the exact release date, who really knows, but it was advertisted in 1989. 

What I'm not sure of is how to catalog this or if it should be cataloged in TCDB. It is very much a card, although a bit oversized (a little smaller than a vintage postcard, 4.5 in on the long side, 2.75 in on the short). I'm not sure if there are any unsigned examples, I believe this was intended to be distributed with the autograph. Maybe list with a signed and unsigned variation? 

What do others here think? 

I'd call it nothing more than a business card.  If we include this business card just because it has an athlete on it, why not every business card with a person on it?

I would call this a collectible card. It has a photograph on the front and stats on the back, authorized by the subject depicted on it.  Just because it was self issued, doesn't make it less legimate than if it was some other company he just had an endorsement deal with that issued it, which would without a doubt be listable here.

Kind of like the Taubensee card posted in the last week? The year created may be the sticking point?

Cool card & yes It belongs on here! I met Roy for the first time at a Donkey basketball game at Potomac H.S. back in the early 70's! I was just a kid & he played for the Redskins. Him and many other teammates stayed after that game VS the faculty and signed autographs in that hot & humid Gym. I still have the slip of paper he signed that night!  I saw him at the Bullets games many times over the years after he retired.

Love to hear stories like this - I think Roy seemed like a popular guy around the D.C. area, it seems he's still around but not sure what he's up to now (hopefully enjoying retirement).

This definitely belongs but the year of issue is unknown. That needs to be determined first. Since it's mentioned he's still around and fan friendly I suggest reaching out to him directly.
