When someone sends you the wrong card how do you handle it?  We aren’t talking about an expensive card, just a card you need for your collection.  This isn’t the first time it’s happened.  Just getting tired of getting cards I already have or the wrong card in general..

Tell your trade partner and go from there.

I usually do a double check before packing the trade so I don't have this happen very often,but usually ship card in question and let other trader keep the wrong card.

I have had this happen many times. If it is just a common for a set that is no where complete, I advise them of the error so that they can update their inventory (sometimes it has been a parallel issue and sometimes simply the wrong card). If I hear back from them acknowledging their error, I stress to them not to send it unless we have another trade; it simply is not worth the postage either side of the border. When it has been a parallel issue, I have pointed out the difference in sets as it is obvious that the other member was not aware of the parallel (who can keep up with these). Those members have usually thanked me for the info.

If it happens to be a card that I need to complete a set or a more valuable card, most likely the key card in the trade, then I will look to work something out with them, either another trade with the missing card included or that they send it along to correct the error.

This has almost always worked out. Most members will send the missing card either in another trade or by itself (even though I stress it is not necessary). A rare individual never acknowledged my message but he is a despical fraudster who many won't trade with because of what he did.

We all make mistakes; I have sent the wrong card at least twice that I remember. Things were resolved.

Without knowing what card, you wanted and want card you got it is hard to know how I would respond.

There are several sets like base vs retail and all the Vars.  That I have been getting the wrong one.   Even after I asked them to double check.   The 2007 Ultra (football) is the killer for me.   

Normally I inform the trader and let him keep the card I sent as a PIF.   Most traders are willing to try to make it right.

This is another small (in the big picture) thing in the world of card trading.   Yes very frustrating at times.

So definitely don’t start out being a d*ck…I will proceed with caution in the future.  I know we all make mistakes.  I just made on recently, but caught it when I went to pull the cards and was able to correct the mistake and find something else they needed to fix it..  I will just let them know the card they sent was incorrect and see what they say from there…

As has been mentioned, just communicate as a civilised human being.

It's a mistake, it happens and there are multiple ways to achieve a good outcome.

The only trade I got caught out on here was one where my trading partner was so quick through the acceptance/postage process they had the cards on the way while I was sleeping. I had not had a chance to pull and check their end and one was badly damaged. We talked, I ended up sending the damaged card and some others they were interested in. Problem solved.

Either people will react well to the situation, or they won't. To me the best way to start toward a positive resolution will be with a understanding attitude/tone.
