You guys have 100 excuses to not add a price for a card, therefore there are few current card (2014-2024) prices listed. A lot of collectors buy collections and/or, like myself, have 500,000 cards that I've accumulated over the years. I submitted a number of cards and they all got denied, even though all of the prices were reasonable. The actual value of a card is what I'm willing to accept and what you're willing to pay. If we don't agree, we don't trade. Pricing here should be a guideline. I submitted one price that has three eBay sales recently around $100.It was denied even though the TCDB price is from two years ago. So now if someone wants this card, the price is TCDB is ridiculous and a deal won't get done. Really frustrating!

The TCDB pricing is not what a card is actually worth. It’s just sold listings that members have taken the time to submit. NOBODY has to pay what the price says it’s just a guide. Some members have some extra time and some don’t. So by adding the prices in somebody collection can happen for some and not others. Why should it be a ”Guideline” if its voluntary?

Most of the time if somebody approaches me with a trade and they want to entirely go by pricing....I decline.

Take pricing on here with a grain of salt. If you want a better reflection of what the card is worth, check sold listings on eBay or a Beckett price guide.

My eBay store.- Be sure to check it out! FOR SALE/TRADE: View my profile for details! If there's a certain player you want, ask me about them, I'll probably have a card of their's that I'm willing to trade but haven't marked on my FS/T list. For more specific info, visit profile or message me.

Agreed, some push on it to hard. Now if it’s like $100+ than start to look at comps.

I gave up on working on pricing here a couple years ago. It's too cumbersome to provide what is needed for common cards. The old way had too many issues as well because there were members putting in ridiculous prices when nothing supporting it was needed.
I thought the partnership with Sportslots (I believe) was supposed to help but I guess I'm not sure how it's supposed to work. I still see some funny looking pricing around. Example: 1983 Topps Baseball #35 Rollie Fingers $.20 and then #36 Rollie Fingers SV $1.99. That seems whack to me. The super vet pricing was entered by a member referencing ebay pricing. The issue here being a single price source shouldn't have such a big difference in these cards.
I don't have a fix but these sorts of things had me just give up on the pricing feature here.

For the last several years I have put in the prices that I have purchased cards for. I have gotten some great deals and other times I paid too much.
Then again!!! I pay little attention to prices here when doing a deal.

Are you submitting “reasonable” pricing or what a card has actually sold for? If bought online did you supply a link to the sale? If you have an example of what was denied we could probably help figure out why or at least start a discussion about changes that admin may need to consider.

Sure sounds like a complete disregard for pricing guidelines

I'll never quit collecting entirely, but I am downsizing. Check out my COMC store and help me thin out what I don't want so I can buy cards that I do want. See something you like? Send me a message on here, and we can knock the price down quite a bit. I'll even take a bit of a loss if it means getting you a card you really want.
