I've got a lot of free time on my hands and upload images of all the cards I have in my collection that are missing on the site. It's quite frustrating to have them reviewed and denied because they are not PERFECT! I mean, come on, there is no card showing for how many years and if someone wants to help out the site then let them go until someone comes along with a better scan or upload. It's getting to the poitn where I'll just stop altogether and keep them to myself. You guys are too picky!

I can provide some tips for straightening and cropping images. I personally use Gimp (open source) and using the Rotate and Crop tool you can get images lined up pretty well quickly. It is a bit too manual for my liking right now but haven't found anything that does it automatically well yet as I notice most scanning software overcrops and might be your issue.

Steve, I would add it is not "you guys" being picky. Admin has established standards. https://www.tcdb.com/ImageGuidelines.cfm

Don't stop, keep loading them up! It's like anything else, the more you do the better you get. Also have a look at your scan before you submit it. If it looks crooked or there is a white or black line on the outside edge(s) or you cropped it too much / not enough, re-scan it. Once it looks good then submit for approval.
I'm not sure what the number of uploads required is, but after a certain amount of successful submissions they let you submit & approve your own scans to the site. So that's something to aim for maybe too? Keep on plugging away and good luck.

I already gave approval rights and review everything I upload. If it doesn't look right I mark it appropriately. Thanks for the reply,

If you are having issues with crooked scans, you can try what I did to resolve my own crookedness issues. I use a guide, basically another card or thin item (not too thin tho) like a business card that goes between the card I want to scan and the edge of the scanbed. You can see it in this mystery thread I posted on the left side
https://www.tcdb.com/Forum.cfm/Page/M/ID/0/?MODE=VIEW&ThreadID=37535&C=3
Then I had to also change my scanner software to do a full scan because the auto-detect option was either cropping of parts of the card or were coming out slightly crooked. I do a full scan, then a close crop, then do the finer cropping using the built-in site tools.

has anyone considered a template? i've been pondering seeing if i could get a 3d printed template to lay on my scanner. my current method is scanning 3 cards lined up on the straight edge, then cropping them down into separate items.
my though on the template would be that it would give the ability to have properly lined up 9 cards on the glass and something that would keep them squared up.
if anyone has something like this i'd love to know. i dont have a 3d printer but do have a friend who has said if i give him the file he'll print it at cost for me.

Great question, I've definitely considered something like that. I love my scanner but it's a bit annoying because I can't use the very top-most and left-most edges as they don't get captured in scans. So I have to move cards away from the parts that help keep them straight. A template would be a great solution though I've seen some other lower-tech but effective ideas like lining up toploaders around what you're scanning. The only issue is that you lose a chunk of available scanning area and have to scan fewer cards at once.
I don't know anyone with a 3D printer but might ask around. I'm pretty sure we could come up with a reasonably thin but rigid template with cutouts that are slightly larger than 2.5 x 3.5.
