I was wondering if it is frowned upon to message members here about trying to aquire cards that are in their collections, but not on their trade-list. I have aquired everything that is available on my want list through members trade-lists, and don't want to step on any toes.
I PC Jesse Barfield, who admittedly isn't the most popular player of all time, but definitely my favorite from childhood.
Thank you.

Feel free to ask, but don't get worked up if the answer is no.

Probably 50% or more of my transactions are me inquiring or being asked about collection items. Just be polite and as Royals said don't get your feelings hurt. But I've sent alot of cards from my pc that I liked, but really helped someone else.

If you are polite when you ask and respectful if the answer is no then there shouldn't be a problem.

I had someone ask about a card that I had PC'ed. The question was polite and respectful. We ended up making a very nice trade. (After I mucked about in the transaction manager for a few days, messed it up, only to be fixed by my trading partner, LOL)
It also helped that I had duplicates of the card my partner was interested in.

I PC Danny Wuerffel and have asked quite a few people if they would be interested in a trade for a collection card and have made a few trades that way. I've only really had one person who said they do not trade from their personal collection.

I am open to it. Many items in my collection would be available, with certain limitations. I just list them in my collection until they are sorted and decided where they go, some eventually move to for sale/trade, others stay. As my quote on my profile says "It never hurts to ask because you might be successful." I have personally asked for cards from someone's collection and have been told no and told yes, so it just varies by person.

I'd second what's been said previously. No harm in asking politely.
