I know this was recently talked about regarding Pokemon as they tend to have the exact same back.
As I'm uploading photos today of some various serial number cards I have that are missing images I am noticing a ton that have only the back uploaded; as the uploader probably assumes the back is identical to the base card just in a color parallel front. So I checked out the uploaders page; 56 thousand points. For someone of that point level I would assume either a) they only upload card backs to obtain points or b) they should know that not all card backs will be the same. As is the case with one card I have; there's already a back uploaded so no option for me to upload the correct card back.
I'm curious on others thoughts on this; should the site possibly consider only allowing uploading of front and back of card or not at all? As I think if you don't actually have the card in hand you shouldn't be able to upload an improper back assuming it matches as it's a parallel; in this case it's serial number on the card back and the one loaded is not as it likely is just the base card back.

Photos? Photos are not allowed, only scans.

Someday my cards may double in value and then be worth half of what I paid for them.

As far as the incorect card back scan, you can submit an IR to have it removed. Once it is removed you can upload your correct scan in it's place. Just word the IR along the lines of "I have this card in hand, the card back scan uploaded is wrong. Please remove the scan so I can upload the proper image." Or somethnig to that effect....
Edit: Oopps, didn't see the comment about photos in the OP, Chuck caught it. Yes, scans only!

Or you can replace images, if you have enough permissions - level 7, I believe

I ran into this when I was uploading my son's MTG cards. The backs on many sets were uploaded as soon as the checklist was created (not by the point farmer). In newer sets, there were cards that did not carry the same back as the regular MTG cards; they had a different picture on both sides of the card. The point farmer did not care when he was notified about this problem he was causing. Admin had to remove the images so I could load the correct one.
Chances are your point farmer doesn't read the forums so all this is on deaf ears.

There is currently only one member with 56,000+ points, and I know for a fact, he's not a "point-farmer".
If the image is incorrect, submit an IR - don't simply replace it.
If you're uploading images that aren't scans - don't do it.

Oh geez; didn't realize using the word "photo" vs the word "scan" would cause issues. Yes it is a scan from my scanner. Which to me is a photo. Or image as the word "image" is used when there's no "scan" there. Gosh some people just want to nit pik everything don't they?

Not nit picking. Simply trying to save everyone the aggravation down the line of having images on the site that do not meet the standards Admin has stated.

I understand the preference toward scans because it eliminates bad the chance of poor images captured by other means, but I think the prohibition on images captured by a device other than a scanner is unfounded if a person can demonstrate the capability. I have a camera setup with a macro lens that will capture far superior images to the vast majority of scanners. In addition, I can capture and process 25 images for uploading to TCDB in the same amount of time it would take me to capture and process 1 image on a scanner. Finally, I will not place a card of any value on a scanner bed because the risk of that card being damaged is significantly higher than setting it on my camera table to photograph it. TCDB is missing out on some pretty sweet images!
