As I continue in the "Things to do list", I decided to add missing checklists, especially the vintage ones that are missing. I started on the 1952 Globe Printing sets. Most of these have 18-19 cards issued but many checklists from reliable sources are incomplete 60 years later. Unless C2Cigars has these complete sets stashed away from his youth, getting complete checklists may never happen.
Is it better to leave these checklists missing or is an incomplete checklist for obscure vintage sets better than nothing.

I would reccommend that before adding an incomplete checklist you post your efforts on the forum and see if the TCDB community can fill in the missing pieces.
I spend a "little bit" of my time here on vintage sets and I've ran into several instances where incomplete or inaccurate checklists have posted. It can be difficult to change a checklist once its posted, especially if members start adding cards from the set to their collection.
I would be more than happy to assist with research on any vintage or pre-war sets. A little patience and effort to get it right the first time would go a long way to ensuring we have an accurate database and save someone the work of having to edit a set down the road.

I fully understand your point. Globe Printing issued the minor league sets for several teams. I have researched them. Checklists I have for most are incomplete. If you have better luck, let me know.
I fully understand the work to add cards to a checklist as I recently completed the HoF Plaque set. I would not recommend it for modern day sets but when it comes to vintage sets, even the major hobby publications leave the checklists as incomplete because they cannot determine the full set. So, where does that leave us?
Many of the players in these sets don't have a PID yet as it may be their only card known to exist. I entered the 1952 Globe Printing Columbus Cardinals this morning and had to create several new PIDs for players that now have 1 card. The team still does not have a TID. Someone who had such a card would not have found it through a name search because the name was not in the database. Before this morning, if you searched Bob Betancourt, you would have drawn a blank. And if you had several cards of the set, you could not have entered them because you would not have found it in the database.
These sets may remain in the "Things To Do List" for avery long time....

I think the truly vintage sets that even many of the renowned hobby publications of the past and present have trouble verifying the complete checklistwould benefit our site by having an incomplete checklist. Admin has pointed out some guidelines for doing such sets, as they are aware such sets warrant special treatment.
Please do list cards that may exist but when unsure of the name, "TBA" is to be used in the Name field. Included these can make updating the ste down the road much easier for everyone involved. If the card already exists, it is much easier to edit the Name field than it is to insert a card. (Even more so when dealing with several.) Additionally, this gives other members the clue that the checklist is not complete (potentially) and may spark some further research to happen (and maybe updates for the listing here!).
I think what we've seen in the past that has ruffled feathers (if we had feathers) are the checklists that go up, and include only the cards that the member has in their collection. I know sandyrusty and cnangle both don't operate that way, so this is more for other members, please do not upload a checklist of a newer set (like a parallel) and only include the cards that you own, just so you can list your cards on here. This is a global website. It has thousands of members, and potentially countless other users who haven't signed up (yet or just have no desire to sign up but enjoy the site). Anything we do here affects everyone. Please be considerate of that fact, and don't try to modify it to be your personal website (we'll relent and let Admin make changes like that, however).
I have been enjoying seeing the collaborations for various sets in the Forum. I hope this continues, as these dialogues have been highly beneficial in accomplishing great things here.

And there's another misuse of a term that is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me....TBA. When is the information To Be Announced? Is the announcement scheduled?
We're not waiting for an announcement of this information, we're looking for it To Be Determined. Once the information is determined, then it can be filled out properly, until then it is TBD.

So it sounds like TDB should be in the name field. And the note field(s) can contain something stating that we're looking for information.

I specifically asked Admin about that and was told to please use TBA. So, please, use TBA.
