My collection is going to be my retirement activity. :)

Very much with vrooomed on this issue; now that I am retired, it occupies more of my time than it used to (this site is a big reason as well). When I doget too old to really pursue it, my youngest son will most likely be the one to take it forward.
But I do wish newfie all the best in his "retirement" from the hobby. I suspect though, that he will continue to follow it in a small way. I don't think that desire ever really dies inany of us.

Best of luck newfie! If I'm lucky enough to make it to 76 years of age to hang it up, then I'll still have 22 years to "play"! And don't think it's only a "woman's prerogative" to change your mind...maybe we'll get you back as a "newbie newfie" to start a new collection! Cheers! Brian

i always think about when that day will come for day. I'm glad you were able to pass a lot of it down to your family and (no offense) but your era experienced, in my opinion, probably the best players- in both the game and off the field. it had to have been exciting. hopefully, you'll have time to explain the memories to your family about each card or set for that year. i wish you well!!

Nice what you are doing for your grandkids. I am around 10 years your junior and my kids are not interested in collecting so I have been selling off my cards, bit by bit. But I still buy occasioanal packs just to check them out.

I'm right there with you. Luckily my son in law also collects and now that a grandson is in my near future we've got another collector to be in the wings.... As a small wedding gift to him last year I purchased 2 graded Roger Clemens rookie cards ( yes he's a Red Sox fan and I'm die hard Yankees ) and when I gave them to him , as he opened it there was a note I had put inside that read " When you have a son , this will be the 1st card you give him to start off his collection ", and the other was for him. Looking forward to being able to share the hobby with him as my uncle did with me.

I concur with what most have said. Sad to see someone leave the hobby, but glad for the future in grandkids. Sadly some like me don't have a legacy to pass our collections to. I have a nephew, well two actually a blood nephew and a "Step" Nephew (my sister-in-law's son). The by blood Nephew just turned 30, the step nephew is 25? neither seem to be interested in any family heirlooms.
