As a kid, I loved to collect Pavel Bure cards. Still do, but since I mostly limit my hockey collection to pre-1995, I don’t add many these days.
Johnny Grubb was one of those irrational fan attachments when I was a wee lad. He’s probably my favorite to still collect. I’m not very aggressive about it, figuring no one else is collecting Grubb cards and they’ll still be there for me when I get around to it. But he had a long career for being mostly a bench guy. And he had some highlights. Also, he has an amazing amount of cards where he is sitting at a short distance from the camera and looking off somewhere else. I wrote a poem about Johnny Grubb that I’m somewhat proud of.
