The rubber band around cards is I think most of us have done as kids. Kept all my mid to late 70 cards in a tin box with each team wrapped in rubber bands.
Filling in check boxes on checklists was another one. And in most cases I used pen because pencil didn't show up as well on the fronts of cards.
And any card that had a sticker, those ended up stuck to the side of my dresser. As I struggle to complete all the different sets of Star Wars cards from the original movies, which includes the stickers, I kick myself now that I'm having such a hard time finding them again.

Wonder if sending them to be, or getting them autographed and getting a goofy devaluing message back?

Look for the recent Mark Hamil post, for some reason I can’t share specific posts. It’s funny from the “I’m never reselling” this” standpoint, but at the same time, it is a little “prick ish” to do something that looks like someone other than himself defaced the card, and devalued it worse than if he personalized it to someone.

after a devastating loss to an arch-rival of my favorite team, i burned the head off of the other teams starting quarterback. Being a fan of the Washington Redskins the card was a Roger Staubach rookie card. oops!

As a kid I always wrote over the facsimile autographs with a marker, to make them look more real.
As an adult, I got SP from a pack while sitting at my desk. Dropped it (clumsy, but hopefully the corners will be ok). Rolled back my chair to grab it. Didn't realize it had fallen under the chair. Giant gash right down the middle of the card as I rolled over and crushed it.

I just did it recently and am embarrassed and sickened by what my brain was thinking.
Had a nearly pristine 1982 Ronnie Lott card I've had since my childhood in the 90s. It had a strange stain on the front that I decided I thought I could remove with some alcohol... Not like it really changes the value of the card but what was I thinking?!

Probably from cracking a PSA slab. If a card is for the PC I don’t care about the grade especially if it’s low. I’ve cracked plenty of slabs with no problems but there was one time the slab cracked into the corner and bent it. Also noted, Prizm cards tend to separate in half when this happens. Luckily card was cheap and managed to get another one.

I debated on posting this but ok. In 2008 there wete certain subset cards i thought didnt belong into packs and 1 very particular person I despise. I gotten about 8 cards of his took them to a gun range and made sure that you could not tell who the person was by the time i was done shooting I used several .22, .35, .45, 9mm, .444 on the cards.
i didnt have fun pulling his cards but needless to say i had fun destroying them. I will not give the name for it might offend someone or what set or subset they came from

Recently got a 1964 Koufax playoff card where the eBay seller sealed with scotch tape at the top of the holder. I was not careful....
