Have you ever seen an old movie with Steve Martin called "The Jerk"? There's a scene where he runs around yelling with joy, "The new phone book is here! The new phone book is here!" Sub "baseball cards" for "phone book," and, yep, that's me some years.

I don't dislike these overproduction era sets neither and I guess that each era or decade has its ugly sets.
By the way, I remember the days before the internet when we were receiving the new phone book in February. What would be the ugly painting reproduction on the cover this year? Would our number be between the same names and on the same column/page? Would we get another exchange in our locality this year? Now we have two area codes, they reduced the font size too much, they splitted our book in two or three districts and switching from landline to wireless made disappear tons of residential numbers and I don't really recall the last time I used the phone book. Thanks for the memories.

I totally agree with you in all terms and conditions. It's a fantastic story.

1991 Fleer Baseball is okay. I especially like the black All-Star inserts. The 1991 Fleer Football set is hideous.

Give Me any set from the 80's. I would get a Complete Topps set every yesr for Christmas. Still brings back memories.

That Fleer set would probably complete my "Ugly Trinity" of basketball, along with the first two Skybox sets.
For hockey I don't think the sheer awfulness of 90-91 Bowman has ever been topped.

Some I do and some I don't.
I also despise some super popular sets and trends like Chrome and Prizm type cards, foil lettering, relic cards, rip cards, those book and folding cards, lettering/fonts that read vertically or are oriented vertically, metal and cards made of materials other than cardboard or sturdy cardbaord stock.

I collect: Baseball, Football, Hockey, Mostly Vintage pre1980, My Homie teams - Washington/Baltimore Teams Senators (Twins, Rangers), Expos/Nationals, Redskins, Capitals, Bullets/Wizards - HOFers - Non-sport (mostly TV shows and movies). I don't mind 1991-92 Skybox (probably because it was the largest NBA set ever until a couple years ago) but I loathe the 1990-91 set for some reason. I still want to find the last two or three cards I need to finish it but it's not a set I will look at often. Even the team logo cards are no good since it's not the actual logo.
The Bowman cards are bland but at least they scan easily. Names on the front are way too small though. At least they are on there unlike Pro Set Platinum!

VERY slow trading due to health problems. Not transferrable so safe to trade with, just moving is painful and can't always access the cards.
