A fairly well-known dealer on eBay has a couple of cards I've been watching (his listing specifically) for several YEARS. While they are SN10s, they are very specifically of interest to hardcore TCU Horned Frogs collectors. That is not a very big market.
Dude has slowly been raising the price of these things. I even contacted him a couple of years ago and tried to reason with him that there is almost no demand for these things but I'd buy them if we could negotiate a better deal. He straight up told me that he couldn't go any lower and that because of "demand", he was even going to be raising his prices.
He's still sitting on these things. Probably could have made $50 for the two cards 3 years ago from me (which I still would say is overpriced) but now he's wanting $115 for the pair.
Dumb.

Turning off trading because my collection is in complete disarray after moving and I don't know when I can get it organized.

It is not just E-Bay sellers. I see it everywhere Beckett, COMC, other sites and even here.
You heard it all. They are hard to find, the demand is high, this is the only one listed and even It will be worth more in a few months. Then you just have to wonder why they have not sold it in the last couple of years.

Classic "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" situation... but dealers like these don't seem to be in any hurry to earn their money.

Apparently, the post box breakers, haven't learned how badly the Printers/Card Companies have ruined the Collector Business, by chasing money vs supporting the buyers....

I view it is a case of yeah it's available for the right price. If the owners wants to hang onto them unless they get what they want that is certainly their right to do so.

I personally make deals all the time, especially if its a dog (item that lays around) The word years boggles my mind, I am just not that patient, if it is a card that I like and really dont want to sell I may post it because I need the cash but I usually justify taking it down the next day. If I had any of those treefrogs I would give them to you just cause you really liked them. Guess everyones wired differently.I also get far more defensive when I sell certain new sets. I have the DC Hybrid NFT now and its selling very well but I have been more aggresive on offers. Dynasty Collectibles will never speak to me again lol. I dont like to "hustle or get Hustled" and this new stuff gets em goin.
Sorry I like to respond when I relate
Have a great day

Reminds me of Ebay User Blackrose. Has some utterly amazing "high end" cards but the prices are about 40-50X every other listing of similar or better cards on ebay. Has cards listed for years but the prices only get higher. Im almost convinced in some instances like that the people are using Ebay as a Card display showcase like how some people use Instagram or Facebook etc.

I feel like its getting more common for dealers/sellers to use asking prices as comps to justify high prices, I found a card with an asking price of 3K and a recorded sale of $85 a week prior, the seller said his was worth 3K because the only other one was sold at $85....wth??? the other one that I really dont understand is the theory of "its worth what someone is willing to pay" seemingly only when it benefits the seller. (Im thinking that if someone grossly overpays for a card, then all of those cards are worth that price somehow??)

Price is worth what one will pay for it. But they are searching for the one who will pay "that" price for it.
Nothing wrong with the hussle but sounds like a slow grind
